Can I have more than one account?
You may create another account, but the two accounts can never interact in any way. You are also not allowed to carry over vouches from your previous account.

What if a family member or friend wants to create an account in the same household as me?
That is allowed, but when you are vouched by the friend/family member you must note that you know them in real life. If you do not do this it will be counted as a self vouch and you will be banned for 3 months.

Can I change my account name?
Name changes are NOT allowed except in ONE, and only ONE, case. If someone is promoted to staff and has an unprofessional username, we may allow them to change it to something more professional. If their existing username is professional enough, however, they will NOT be given a name change. Name changes are NOT a donator perk IN ANY WAY regardless of donation level. Capitalization and other "minor" changes are included in this rule regardless of how "minor" the change may seem. Asking staff members for a name change in violation of these rules may result in an infraction

How do I dispute an infraction I received?
PM the moderator who gave you the infraction and explain why you do not believe the infraction was warranted. If there is further disagreement contact a global and ask them to settle the dispute.

How do I know who's on staff? (include a link to forum leaders, explain name colors, perhaps put examples of ranks. you don't have to put all the sectional ranks / colors)

What's the difference between administrators, global moderators, and sectional moderators? (i dunno if anyone has answered this already... http://sythe.org/showthread.php?t=856069 contains infromation about Admin duties. Link that at the end like: http://sythe.org/showpost.php?p=11328614&postcount=2)

Staff members have certain characteristics to distinguish themselves from regular users. They have a rank, or ranks, to represent what sections they have permissions in, you can find a list of said ranks here: http://sythe.org/showthread.php?t=1445188. And their usernames are bold/colored, different colors represent different sections, which are stated below:

Games Moderator
Community Moderator
Support Center Moderator
Off-Topic Moderator
Market Moderator
Runescape Moderator

Global Moderator

Administrator

Click the following link to find out who is currently on the staff team: http://sythe.org/showgroups.php

Sectionals, as hinted by their name, tend to their assigned section(s). They generally deal with spam reports, scam reports, and disputes. Global moderators have permissions in every section, hence the term, "global." They can do everything the sectionals can, and more. Specifically, they partake in polls, issue permanent/forum bans, and take on account recoveries. Administrators, on the other hand, take care of more important issues. There are two tiers of admins, "special," and "general." General administrators tend to distributing TwC ranks, IP bans, creating/changing forums, etc. Special administrators have different roles placed among each of them, including but not limited to, technical development, donations, etc. For a more detailed explanation of the roles of administrators, click on the link below.

How staff are chosen, the staff structure, and a thorough statement about the roles of the administrators.

------>What is bumping?
Bumping is when you post on your thread that makes it to the top of the forum where it is posted.
------>How do I bump?
You can post on your thread with any message you want.
------>When can I bump?
You can post on your thread once every 8 hours. Even replying to a post counts as a bump.

How do I donate?
You can give your donation in some form of currency either directly to Matthew(Head of Donations) or a user that has been allowed to take your donation and then donates for you.
What donation methods are there?
You can donate via paypal directly to the site, rsgp through 3 different users or playerauctions through a user.
How do I contact a moderator?
You can contact a moderator by simply pming them on the forum.
How do I donate via Paypal?
You follow this link and click paypal assuming you meet the requirements.
The requirements are: your account has to be at least 15 days old, you have to have at least 100 posts and you must of donated before via a different method.
Why are there restrictions on Paypal donations?
There are two reasons why paypal donations have restrictions. The first is sythe wants trust-able users donating
as paypal isn't the safest payment method. The second is Matthew wants to roll out paypal donations gradually to ensure everything works. For more information on paypal donations click here
What are the perks of donating?
There are many perks for donating outlined here
How do I manage my perks?
You can click this link to manage your perks
Why do others that have donated the same amount as me have a different rank?
There are to reasons for this. The first is simply those who have donated before July 1, 2010 and they have access to legacy ranks. After July 1, 2010 all users who donated get the ranks that are used today. The second reason is if someone donated over $300 you can have a custom rank so even if you have both donated $300, one of you can have a blue partyhat while the other has a rubber chicken.
I've been scammed by someone, what should I do?
You should look at this thread and read it over. Pay attention to this post. Then report the scammer with all the information you have.
How do I report a scammer?
Look at this thread for the proper template and post a new thread in the Report A Scammer forum located here
What is considered proof?
Screenshots are the most widely used for proof as it is quick to look at. Pictures of the trade occurring, the traders taking about the deal,him/her not responding to you should be screenshot, saved and uploaded. You should trade via a Instant messenger and take pictures of the active conversation window.
If I'm scammed, will I get compensation from Sythe?
No. Sythe is free to use and as such takes no responsibility if/when you get scammed. However if you are a safe trader you should not experience many scams.
What should I do during a trade to make sure that if they scam I will be able to get them banned?
This post sums up all you should do during a trade
What are stickies?
Stickies are threads that you may find useful when visiting a particular forum. They are always at the top of the forums.

DONEDONEDONEDONEDONEDONEDONEDONE

Click the "Donation Center" located at the top of the site, after that, click on the "Make a Donation" tab, and then choose a donation method suitable for you.

Currently, there are three methods you can use to donate to Sythe.org; RuneScape Gold, Player Auctions, and/or PayPal.

There are three requirements to be able to donate with PayPal:

• Been registered on Sythe.org for longer than 15 days.
• Already be at least a $5 donator.
• Have 100+ post count.

If you fulfill these requirements, look back to the "How do I donate?" question.

The reason PayPal donations have limitations placed upon them is because of the chargebacks that take place, this would make them less of a risk.

Note: If you chargeback your donation, you'll be permanently banned from Sythe.org as per the scamming rule.

All donators receive the following:

• A rank corresponding to the size of your donation(s).
• Access to the Donator's Lounge
• A Bigger PM Box (500 Messages)
• A Larger Avatar (150 x 100px)
• Over 30 Extra Post Icons

Higher donators receive more perks:

• $50 USD+ Donator - Custom User Title
• $100 USD+ Donator - Enhanced User Title (Colors, etc.)
• $200 USD+ Donator - Custom Username Image
• $300 USD+ Donator - Custom Rank

Relevant links:
Current Ranks and Perks

Click the "Donation Center" located at the top of the site, after that, click on the "Perk Manager" tab, and then choose the corresponding perk you'd like to change. If it's a rank change, it'll be processed simultaneously, but if it's a different perk, read the limitations of said perk so you don't violate them, and then submit the change you'd like to see. It'll be processed by Matthew soon, and you should receive a PM sometime later regarding if your request has either been denied or accepted.

These are called "legacy ranks," these were the donation ranks used before July 1st, 2010. If you donated after said date, you are not qualified for legacy ranks.

What's the difference between administrators, global moderators, and sectional moderators?
Sectional moderators moderate individual sections, and are the lowest tier on the staff team. Globals are the next tier. They moderate all the sections and do more in the line of dealing with scam reports, handing out bans, etc. The highest tier is the Administrators. Admins oversee all of the day to day happenings on sythe, give the final say on important decisions, hand out ranks and I.P. bans, and more. For more information, head on over to this thread.

How do I contact a moderator?
There are many different ways to contact a moderator. Your best bet is to Private Message them. They will respond to you as soon as they can. You can also try entering LiveHelp if it is online or you could even try contacting them via MSN or Skype. There will almost always be a moderator online that is available to speak with.

How do I contact an administrator?
Contacting an administrator works essentially the same way as contacting a moderator, but admins are much busier and may take longer to respond. If you have an urgent matter and need to speak with an admin quickly, try contacting a global and ask them to help you get a hold of an admin.

How do I contact Sythe?
You can PM Sythe, but he will most likely only respond if it is a very important matter. You can ask an administrator to attempt to contact him, but only if they deem it necessary. Most problems can be solved by contacting a global or an administrator instead.

Who should I contact regarding advertising?
Send an email to [email protected] or [email protected] with your request to advertise. If you don't hear back within 1-2 weeks try contacting an administrator to relay your request to Sythe.

There's some on the FAQ thread that I made up so they don't have answers. Can't really tell you which ones they are, though.

Why do some users have a trade with caution rank?
When a user shows signs of malicious intent or suspicious activity they are given a TwC (Trade with caution) rank, which means you should be extra careful when trading with them.

How can I get the highly trusted rank?
Highly trusted ranks are given out to users who have been on the site for many years, have proved their trustworthiness, and who are deemed worthy of the rank by Matthew or Sythe. This is one of the highest honors achievable on sythe, and has only been attained by a handful of people.

If I know a programming language, can I have a programming rank?
If you can prove that you are experienced in the coding language, and you are an active participant in that particular programming section, then you may request a programming rank. This does not guarantee a rank however, an admin must approve of it first.

Are there any market specific rules I need to know?
Every market has its own specific set of rules. Before using a market make sure to read all of the stickies to make sure you know what is/isn't allowed, and what is required when making a thread there.

Firstly, go to the YouTube video you wish to embed, then copy the text after the "?v=" and before any "&" sign you may find in the link. After that, insert the copied text between youtube tags: . If you followed the steps correctly, your video should be embedded.

Examples:

Youtube.com/watch?v=ARLXKkbyYi8 or Youtube.com/watch?v=ARLXKkbyYi8&feature=related

If your account on Sythe.org has been banned either temporarily or permanently, and you return back to the community while the said account was still banned, that is called ban evasion. If caught, your new account will be permanently banned, and if you were evading a temporary ban, that might prevoke a permanant ban to be placed on that account. Multiple instances of ban evasions will lead to an IP ban.

Click on the "Caution Sign" located at the top right of the post you'd like to report, it's above the join date of said member. After that, type in what offense they have committed into the text field, then it'll be handled by a moderator accordingly.

Vouches are generally located in a member's vouch thread, they are used for individuals to post vouches for the said member, and to keep track of their existing vouches/keeping them organized. If you'd like to make one, go to the "Market" section, and click on the "Vouches Forum" subsection, but remember to read the stickies.

Relevant links:
Example of a vouch thread.
Vouch Section Rules
You are not allowed to vouch for yourself, or an IRL acquaintance.

Bumping is to post a reply on a thread with the sole purpose of raising the thread's position (normally, members will do this by just saying "bump"). It'll return said thread to the top of the section which subsequently will be noticed more by members.

The current bumping rule only allows you to bump your thread once per eight hours. If you don't comply with these terms, the consequences get more severe as you continuously break the rule:

• First Violation: Single-point infraction and the removal of the posts in violation.
• Second Violation: 3-day forum ban from the particular forum in which you were over-bumping.
• Third Violation: 1-week forum ban from the particular forum in which you were over-bumping.
• Fourth Violation: 1 month forum ban from the particular forum in which you were over-bumping.

Go to the bottom of the page, and click on the "Report A Scammer" section. Read the stickies on the guidelines, rules, and how to make a proper scam report. Then, make a thread following the template with the required proof regarding the scam that took place. After that, wait patiently for a moderators response.

Basically anything that can prove that the said member has scammed you, but there are some limitations, and things you cannot use on scam reports:

• Chat logs/Text Logs - Easily editable, cannot be used as evidence.
• Cropped Messenger Screenshots - Do NOT crop messenger screenshots, important details such as the MSN can be cut off making the screenshots void.
• Downloadable files - Security risk, if it's a video/picture, upload it online.
• Skype Name - Moderators cannot ban a user based on their Skype display name. You'll have to show their skype address, and proof that they own that address.

Sorry, Sythe.org isn't liable for the scams that occur. The staff team do all that they can to prevent scams from taking place, and preventing future scams. It's your responsibility to trade safely, use proper trading etiquette, and prevent yourself from being scammed.

Look back to "How do I trade safely?"

By trading safely and completing a trade successfully. Remember you can't require a vouch for a successful trade only if they wish to. You also can't fake vouches this causes a 3 month ban and a TWC.

Where do I put my vouches?
You can either put them in your profile in your edit profile in user control panel or make a thread here.

How are moderators chosen?
New moderators are chosen when there is the need for more staff members. An upper staff member will then nominate a user(s), and the rest of the upper staff will vote on whether or not this user should become a moderator. If the majority of the votes are "Yes" then the user is then promoted to the sectional moderator position.

What is the upper staff?
The "upper staff" consists of all of the global moderators, and administrators of sythe.org. The upper staff are the ones who vote on pardons and new-moderator polls.
