    1. What are 'vouches'?

Vouches are recommendations from other users who have completed trades with that individual. There are strict rules though, and fake vouching is strictly prohibited.

    2. RuneScape Gen FAQ: how do i recover my runescape account without an email?

You can post on the Runescape official forums and a Jagex moderator will give you a link to the manual recovery form.

    3. I'm new to the forums, is the spam forum a good place to hang out?

Newcomers are not generally treated well in the spam forum. It's a place where insulting and trolling take place.

    4. How to pronounce 'Sythe'.

You pronounce Sythe just like the tool, a scythe (/sīT͟H/).

    5. How do I request my thread to be moved or locked?

You can report your thread using the triangle icon in the top right corner, and leave what you want in the text field. The moderators will tend to it as soon as they can.

    6. What is "LiveHelp?"

Live help is a chat where you can ask Sythe moderators anything about the forum. They're there to assist you.

    7. What's an OMM / MM? What's the difference between the two?

An OMM is an official middleman, whereas a MM is an unofficial middleman. An official one is generally more trusted, and has gone through a rigorous process to get their rank. They're used in trades to make sure that it's a smooth process.

    8. How to embed youtube videos?

You can embed Youtube videos by typing [.youtube][/youtube.] around the code for your video (without the periods).

    9. How do I trade safely?

You should always use a middleman during trades, and only trade with members who you deem as trustworthy.

    10. What is bumping?

Bumping is when you post on a thread to bring it to the top of the list (and visible on the homepage). You're only allowed to bump your thread once every 8 hours.

    11. When can I bump?

You're allowed to bump your thread once every 8 hours.

    12. I see people who donated the same amount as me with a different Donator icon, how come?

These users donated before 2010, and have the old (legacy) ranks. Anyone who donates after will receive the newer ranks.

    13. What do all these slang terms i keep seeing all over the forums mean?

    B& - Banned
    DNS - Do Not Suggest
    IMO - In My Opinion
    MM - Middleman
    MS - Microsoft
    MSP - Microsoft Points
    OMM - Official Middleman
    PA - PlayerAuctions
    PP - PayPal
    RSGP - Runescape Gold Points
    SF - Spam Forum
    SRB - Self Requested Ban
    TBH - To Be Honest
    TL;DR - Too Long; Didn't Read
    TWC - Trade with Caution
    Vader - Ban Evader
    WTB - Want to Buy
    WTS - Want to Sell
    WU - Western Union
    XBL - Xbox Live

    14. What currency do people trade in here on Sythe?

It depends on where the user trading is from, but they can use any currency they want. It's mostly in USD, GBP, AUD, and CAD.

    15. Help! Someone is selling/buying something not in my currency, how can i find out how much it is converted to mine?

A great site to check out conversion rates is XE.

    16. What payment methods are accepted on Sythe?

Sythe users can trade in whatever they want to. The most popular methods are Paypal, Western Union, Moneybookers, Runescape gold/items, and Google Checkout.

    17. How do I get vouches?

After completing trades the user may leave you a vouch saying the amount that was traded. This is a sign of trust.

    18. What is ban evading/vading?

Ban evading (or vading for short) is when you have one Sythe account banned, yet you continue to browse on another account.

    19. I've been scammed by someone, what should I do?

You should head over to the Report a Scammer section and report them there with adequate proof. They will be banned and will have to re-pay you to return to Sythe.

    20. Is there any risk with buying Runescape accounts?

Yes, all Runescape accounts can generally be recovered by the original owner. It's out of Sythe's control, and not even a middleman can help you with this. You should only buy accounts from people who you deem trustworthy.

    21. Which payment methods are safest for sellers?

Western Union seems to be the safest, since when you pick it up from the store it can not be charged back. The only downside is that they charge a large fee.

    22. How do I donate?

In order to donate to Sythe you will need to venture to the Gold Buying section of the forum. The threads stuck up top are official donation services, you can use any of them.

    23. What are the perks of donating?

The perks vary depending on the amount in which you donate. You can view all of the perks in the Donation Center.

    24. What's the difference between administrators, global moderators, and sectional moderators?

Sectional moderators are in charge of individual sections, their job is to keep it clean and organized, as well as take care of scam reports. Global moderators are in charge of keeping the sectional moderators in line, and also have duties to do general moderator in every section on the forum. Administrators run the show, they're in charge of every thing and also do moderating duties around the site.

    25. If I'm scammed, will I get compensation from Sythe?

No, Sythe does not compensate for scams. However, the user will be banned and will not be able to come back until they pay you back in full.

    26. How big can my Sythe avatar be?

Your Sythe avatar can be 80px by 80px. If you donate, you can have one of 100px by 150px.

    27. How do I change the text under my username?

The text under your name is called a user title. You need to donate $50+ in order to change that.

    28. Someone is spamming my thread. What do I do?

You should click the yellow triangle in the top right corner of their posts to report them. Moderators will deal with them and get rid of their spam.

    29. What is an impostor?

An impostor is someone who makes an MSN or Skype account similar to a very trusted users'. They will try to scam you, and you will think it was the trusted user.

    30. How do I avoid impostors?

You should always ask for a private message before entering a trade with a user.

    31. What is a self-requested ban?

A self-requested ban is for accounts that have been hacked, or accounts that you no longer wish to use. It's to make sure that no one can access them while you're gone.

    32. What is a trade with caution?

A trade with caution is placed on a user if they've done something suspicious, but there's not enough proof to warrant a ban. You should trade these users under extremely caution.

    33. My Sythe account has been hacked. What should I do?

Post in the Dispute Section of the forum, and ask for your account to be banned. It's better to ban it right away so that no one can be scammed by your hacker.

    34. Someone hacked my account and used it to scam, now it's banned. Can I get it back?

If your account is used to scam, you must re-pay every user who has been scammed. Your account is your responsibility, and you should keep it secure at all times.

    35. What do I need to post in my sales thread?

When posting in your sales thread you should always include your price, a method of contact, and a picture of your item. Although they're not all required, they help potential buyers.

    36. Why should I use MSN / Skype to conduct trades?

It's easy to take screenshots on them, which you'll need as proof if you're ever scammed. They're also quick, unlike Sythe private messages.

    37. Why do I see post icons I don't have?

Regular users only have a small selection of post icons. Donators and staff members have a much greater selection.

    38. How do I include images in my posts, instead of just links to the images?

To include images in your posts, you should use the image codes. Put [.img][/img.] around the link to your image, without the periods.

    39. Is sending money as a gift through Paypal safe?

No, money sent through Paypal can always be charged back, no matter what method you send it as.

    40. If I buy RuneScape account from someone, can it be recovered even if I add my email?

Yes, the original owner can always recover their Runescape account if they know the information for it. An e-mail attached does not secure it.

    41. Can money be charged back via MoneyBookers?

I don't know this one, someone please do this.

    42. I have been asked to show my gold/account via Teamviewer. I will not let the buyer to control the mouse, am I safe?

The buyer can still transfer viruses and other malicious files to your computer. You should never use Teamviewer or any remote control software during a trade.

    43. Are the websites advertised on Sythe safe?

Most of them are, as long as you get a private message from the owner on Sythe before conducting a trade on them.

    44. How big can my signature be?

Your signature can be 650px wide, and 350px tall. Any greater and it will be removed.

    45. How do I know if I can trust someone?

You should go by vouch count, amount contributed to Sythe, and their ranks on their profile. You're the only person who can deem someone trustworthy for yourself. High vouch counts normally mean they're trustworthy, but it's not always the case.

    46. Can I buy an @sythe.org email?

No, @sythe.org e-mail addresses are not available.

    47. Are chatlogs considered proof?

No, you need screenshots of a video of the actual MSN or Skype conversation window, not chat logs.

    48. Aren't moderators and official middlemen the same thing?

Moderators, while also trustworthy, aren't considered as trustworthy as official middlemen. Official middlemen have to go through a rigorous trading process to get to where they are, and put a lot of time and effort into getting it.

    49. How can I prove I actually have the things I am selling?

You should always include a picture with your sales.

Guys I'm loving what you're all submitting so far, I was originally thinking of participating but it seems you all have it handed ^_^

You could also consider possibly merging certain questions into one, creating small sections on a thread for certain questions of a particular subject, making some text bold or even adding colour to it. I know these are probably just drafts for now, but it's always good to plan ahead ;)

If you find any mistakes with anything I said, please tell me and I'll fix it. Or get rid of it and you can post the correct answer. :)

Also, I don't know the answer to 41 if anyone wants to tackle that.

Wouldn't this be much better and easier to do and view if we did it on an actual Wiki software? Then we could also add a Google search to where people can search the questions and view the most relevant pages, to where they don't have to just give up and type tl;dr.

    I don't know, just a thought.

I'll scroll through some of it, but for the entire thing I'll wait until some form of final version is made, then I'll go over it.

As for 41 - Yes, chargebacks do occur but it's not like PayPal. It will only happen if a stolen credit card it used or something like that. However if it's a wired bank transfer, then you won't see the money again. You may want to research it yourself.

I'm almost certain we had one a few months back that was managed by the admins to start off, it may still be around but I don't see it linked anywhere anymore. I don't think it was really used in the first place anyways.

Dialatic, I have already answered the question about MoneyBookers, I have created the question and answered it by myself.

More questions and answers, created by me:

I have received a Western Union MTCN code and it says that the payment is awaiting to be claimed, am I safe?
No, some scammers use fake MTCN codes. Make sure that the payment is sent to you (don't fall for fake pictures). Even better if you just go and claim the payment before providing the goods.

Is it okay to buy a Sythe account for non-scamming purposes?
No, every person should create an account for themselves only!

Can I contact an Administrator via messenger?

No, unless their contact details are provided in a profile. If you were contacted by someone claiming to be an Administrator, there is a high chance that it is an imposter.

What does a grey/green icon next to the username mean?
It means that a person is offline/online.

I want to be an OMM, what should I do?
You need to submit an application after you Middlemanned a certain amount and value of trades. This is the section to do it http://sythe.org/forumdisplay.php?f=307

How can I be a Sythe moderator?
You cannot submit an application to be a Sythe moderator. It is being done in a similar way as it is being done on RuneScape by choosing Player Moderators. If you are trusted, friendly, helpful, you may be picked one day.

How can I change my text size, colour, style?
When you type your text, click on the special icons on the top. With some icons you need to select the text you want to change first.

Can I post anything in spam forum?
No, main rules still apply (like posting pornography). But you can spam, bump at anytime etc. More information:
    http://filmux.net/board/veiksmo/urban_fighter_2012/3-1-0-6985

Why do I have to donate to Sythe?
It is up to you and it is not neccesary. There are also special perks for donators, the more you donate the more perks you get. It is also a way to thank.

I have been contacted by impostor, but have not been scammed, what should I do?
If it is not a stolen messenger account, simply contact a person that is being impostored and tell him about the situation. Otherwise - contact a moderator.

How can I quickly contact a staff member?
First look for staff members who are online, then check their profile for their contact information or just send them a Private Message.

How can I add a thread icon next to the title?

Simply click Edit then Go Advanced and select one of the icons in the bottom. Be advised, that Donators have more icons. Also, some icons are staff only (like a yellow partyhat).

Yes, and I had already answered most of the other ones in the original post. I was just re-doing it to help SuF out, relax. :)

    Q. How do I gain trust?
    A. Trust is gained through successful trades. For each trade you do, you earn a vouch, and the more vouches that you have, then the more trustworthy you're considered around the community. Being an honest and legitimate trader will earn you trust.

    Q. How do I gain trust?
    A. Trust is gained through successful trades. For each trade you do, you earn a vouch, and the more and the higher value vouches you have, then the more trustworthy you're considered around the community. What also matters is the time spent on Sythe and the good things you have done. So, you cannot gain it very quickly.

Also, I can help with all payment related questions (like Paypal, MoneyBookers, WU, Bank, Mail).

Oh and you can expand on the answers a bit more than that if you need / want to. Happy medium between 9000 lines and 1 line.

You should never go first to anyone that you don't feel comfortable with. You can find an official or unofficial middleman on Sythe and use them to complete a safe trade for both parties.

Trust within the forums can be gained through a variety of ways.

1.) Vouches, these are effectively testimonies of other members stating your legitimacy as a genuine member of the community, for example as a buyer, or a seller, build your quantity and quality of vouches to gain trust.

2.) Post count, a high post count can indicate to a lot of members that you are further credible, it displays you're an active member and contribute to the community, which not only makes you a more valued member of Sythe, but increases your trust.

3.) Being a donator, this can also increase your trustability by displaying your kind efforts to support Sythe and keep it running, this will earn you more respect and show other members your good character, the more you donate, the better!

It is also worth noting one's join date, being a member for a month isn't going to show everybody your the most trusted guy out there, these things take time and grow gradually as you stick around, for example a member who's remained active and free of trouble on Sythe since 2008 is going to possess more respect and trustability then somebody who joined in 2012.

These three aspects as a whole, combined with one's join date, will determine your degree of trust, having one superb aspect alone will not suffice a sufficient reputation, you must try your best to conquer all three elements to be a trustworthy member, remain active for time to come and you will gradually build your trust.

Don't panic, you have multiple options here, which are but are not limited to:

1.) Arranging for a Middleman to assist you in your trade, in which he will take both offers from each party, verify their legitimacy then in turn hand over the items/money to the other person, most Middleman will do this free of charge, but some may charge a fee.

2.) Arranging a Official Middleman to assist you in your trade, this works the same as above, however these are regarded as the most trust worthy of Sythe members, you can be sure to trust these members with whatever it is your trading, regardless of value. However these guys typically charge a higher fee for their services.

3.) Assess the credibility and trustability of your buyer/seller, if you can come to the conclusion they are indeed of good character, a applaudable reputation, with no indicator not to suspect them of fraudulent activity, then you can consider, at your own discretion, to go first to them in the trade, be sure to carefully example all aspects of their account such as vouches, post count, join date, any donator status and so on. Also check you are talking to the real member, not an imposter, always ask for a PM.

Wouldn't it make more sense to have it coded to where if you click on a question it links you to the answer? so I mean there could be two ways to do this, simply put all answer/FAQ in separate posts or just make a separate page with the linking of the posts.

I could whip something up that'd be much neater and more appealing then this thread.
