Accounts weren't meant to be traded, but neither was rsgp or in game items. There are many legitimate sellers out there who make good money buying/selling accounts and enjoy doing so. I don't think it will be removed from sythe anytime soon.

 

All those offers are "too good to be true".

People spends hundreds of millions on Prayer, Herblore and other skills. Not to mention the time and effort put into the account, and its quests.

And they would sell it for a mere 100-150M?

In my opinion buying accounts, no matter who it is from, is extremely risky and should be avoided where ever possible. Even if the account is from Video you simply cannot trust anyone on the internet especially when it comes to your hard earned money.

I'm not naming names or pointing fingers but do not for a second think that just because a person has a lot of vouches and/or is in a position of power on this website that they will not scam you - everyone has their price.

Account buying/selling is a silly part of the market feature for sythe and I agree with the OP - 98% of account sales are scams.

 

I don't agree, if you are buying from someone safe then you should be fine. Alarm bells start to ring when someone is selling their maxed 11 99's account for 10m from someone who is not known. When it comes to accounts this is the only part of the market where having some rep matters.

 

You're making it sound like 100% of the account sales are scams.

Video will attempt to recover it in the event of it getting hacked, if he fails to do so, he would offer you a full refund.

Here's the thing. When buying from someone trusted, they won't ruin their reputation for a mere few hundred dollars. That's what you have to keep in mind, would this user ruin their reputation in order to get it back in the future? Keep in mind that Video has made a lot more from the site, and he wil continue to. So it's a good thing to trade with active people in the market. In a month trusted sellers earn a few thousand dollars, they make what you pay for an account in a few days barely doing anything.

 

Buy from Trusted people. Obviously.

 

It's all about learning from your mistakes. I let two people sweet talk me into trades when I first arrived and within 3 days I had lost over 50M.

From then I learnt from it and had no other problems trading with accounts, as I knew who I should trade with and what I should do.

I then decided to buy an upgrade, and guess what. I got scammed. I thought I had learned but obviously not. It was a different situation to account trading, and once more I learned from my mistake.


Only by experiencing being scammed do you actually realize what you did and where you went wrong, and you don't make the same mistakes. It's sad there are people who can play fair, but there are always those kind of people to take it as a learning curve. All newcomers should actually experience this and then they can't go wrong.

Either way I don't think account trading should be banned, you just need to trade with those who are trusted and you're fine. I didn't in my first trades, and it cost me.

My error = I pay for it.

PlayerAuctions is the safest. PayPal reminds me of Jagex, poor support, and 1 Slip-up, permb&.

 

Even buying from a trusted seller is risky as they are most likely resold.. Use a OMM even with someone who might have more vouches than the omm
