I'm a bit lost in life right now.

So here's the deal everyone. I just turned 19 and I live in Maine, USA. I used to be 280 pounds and then I got a girlfriend. We dated for over a year and a month then she left me for another guy not even a week later after we broke up. Also I'm now around 165 pounds. I feel a little better about my looks and stuff, but not a lot. My ex (who was also my first girlfriend I've had) treated me like shit. She lied to me, used me, just really fucked me over. I have wicked bad trust issues now.

I worked all summer long and bought my dream car. It's a 1989 Pontiac Firebird Formula v8 305 5.0L auto. I wish it was a stick, but hey it happens. About two weeks after I broke up with my girlfriend a deer jumped in front of me while driving with wet roads and I crashed into a curb. It didn't leave a dent nor a mark on the paint it just cracked my rim and the tire still has plenty of air, but will need to be replaced. The worse part is that my frame was bent. They said that'll cost alone $500. I don't have the money and I can't get a job. I've been trying for weeks and even Mcdanks hasn't taken me. Walmart has rejected me many times. I have a 100% clean record with drugs and driving ect ect.





A few weeks ago a big storm hit the East coast of USA (many people knew it as hurricane Sandy) My friend and I took my other car (1987 plymouth sundance) to the beach to watch the big waves. This is also my winter car btw. Not a single wave came close to us and if they did I would of left cause I know what waves can do. After a few hours we got bored so we left. As we were leaving we had to take the road that went by all the other beaches were everyone else was watching the waves too. We came to this one spot where as I was driving a HUGE wave came out of no where over the sea wall and hit my car. It knocked my car to the other side of the road where my friend and I got stuck with knee high water. The car wouldn't start and more huge waves started to crash over on us. A huge ass truck came out of no where and we were able to grab a few things out of the car and jump in the bed of the truck where they took us off to safe grounds. The next day we went back to see if my car was taken out to sea, but it was nicely parked in someone's drive way. It now has a HUGE dent in the passenger side door and the door wont shut fully on top like a small gap. We got the car running again, but it's been taking a few days to get all the water out of the car. We also had to replace the coil luckily that's it to get it running.



Anyways, here I am now. Jobless, barely any money left (Less then $100). A car that works, but can't leave it outside cause if it rains or snow it can get in the car. I'm starting to get a little depressed. I've been seeing this girl for a few weeks now. We're very close and we act as if we're dating, but she doesn't want to date due to the fact she has so much going on in her life plus she's sooooooo busy it's crazy. I can confirm this.

I still live with my parents and I don't play online games anymore. I was planning on sharing a apartment with a friend, but we both got laid off. I'm going nuts guys and girls. I don't know how much more I can handle. I've never talked to anyone about all this stuff and how I feel before. It's nice to just get this all off my shoulders. I'm not looking for boohoo me replies I'm really not. I'm not like that at all trust me. I'm just wondering if anyone has any tips?

I've always wanted to get into rescue jobs. Like fire and rescue and what not. Everyone tells me to go to school for it, but I'd like to see what it's like before I commit all my time and money into anything. Thank you if you read this whole thing. I hope to hear from you. You've changed a lot to go from 280 to 165 lbs

Anyway.. Just go around and keep applying for jobs to raise the cash you need, you could volunteer at a few rescue places too, it won't give you any cash but it will give you a little taste of what you'll be getting into.
Also as for girlfriends... Your past girlfriend was obviously a giant douche and you'll never get another girl like that, so any other girl you'll get with will most likely be nice

 

The best way to get a job is from someone you know. This is how I've gotten multiple jobs, and I currently work two different jobs. Both these jobs were obtained from people I knew, one was my cousin and the other was from a friend's suggestion to his boss.

Seriously, ask your friends (who work) if they can put in a good word for you.


If you ever find a job, and you start getting a decent cashflow, try reading the obituaries in the paper. "But Uncle Pure, what for?"

Well, for cars of course. When people die, usually they leave behind a car. Usually. I have successfully gotten a car by calling numbers in an obituary and asking something along the lines of "Hi, is this poster on Craigslist who was selling the car?". Most of the time, people will say "no" or some other variation of that. But occasionally, you'll find the person who realizes that they have a useless car from the deceased person, and will sell/give you it. I got a 99 Grand am from an older lady who's father had passed away. I later explained that I was saving up for university, and I must've hit a chord in her heart because she thought for a second or two, and offered to sell it to me for $150.

Have you looked into selling one of your cars, then using the money to pay for the damage for the other one. At least you would have one working car sorted out and you can then work on getting a job. Also if you have a bit of left over cash that will tie you over will you get a job.

 

Have you considered doing some sort of short-term apprenticeship or volunteer work? That could open some options for you. Other than that I'd say to just keep applying for more jobs, I'm sure one is bound to employ you

Wouldn't worry too much about the girlfriend issue seeing as this one has commitments like you've said, so she probably wouldn't have time to fool around and shit on you like your previous girl did
