BIG CALLS. They're running the game at the moment, and definitely have skill... alongside Macklemore I hold them pretty highly. I agree Mos Def is amazing, and alongside Eminem as well as Biggie they're some of the greats - but times are a changing.

Believe he does have some potential in his lyrics, at least in a select few of his songs.

Still nothing can beat Tupac and Eminem, Mos Def, Coolio, Outkast oh I miss those days. Eminem also right now has changed up a bit and his newer stuff just isn't the same. It seems changes doesn't do better in any circumstances lol.

 

I actually like Odd Future for the hype and the extremity that they bring to the table with their music - they're raw, and they know how to turn heads as well as amp you up. They're coming to New Zealand next year, and I'm relatively eager to see them...

Agreed. I don't think Mac Miller is that bad though, but still not someone I listen to much. I can't stand OF. Their lyrics aren't terrible, but they still sound like shit in my opinion.

I agree, fuck ALL of them, I don't dis-like Mac Miller but he's not 'running the game' so to speak, no where near.

 

He's one of the most popular and spoken of rappers out there at the moment - he's sweeping through the industry and leaving so many others in his wake. I'd say he's pretty damn close to being one of the forerunners of rap at the moment, whether people like it or not - and the coming release of his new album will push him even further. Who would you say is bigger than him at the moment?

Hip hop has forcibly been split into seperate genres. Old skool, acceptable new school, and new school shit. There are probably more (yes, it's multiple genres within a genre. rapception, deal with it)
