How do you respond to discrimination towards the minority?

Sometimes I feel sad. In my country my race and religion are the minority and sometimes we tend to get discriminated by the majority or rather people with high ranking. I don't think it is valid to discriminate anyone. Sometimes the minority are the ones who can make things go right, but in the end the majority will get the fame of it.

    Your thoughts?

Someone's beliefs and origins shouldn't be what defines them, nor what they are judged on, but rather their accomplishments and output in life.

Isn't it someone's beliefs that define them as a person though? I think what you mean is define their character of person, but personal beliefs is a hugely defining characteristic of people.

As a race, we have an almost facetious need to constantly reassure ourselves of the notion that 'we are all equal', yet we seem to have spent most of the last millennia trying to find as many reasons as possible as to why we are not.

I think it's so dumb, in this times discrimination still exist, i think from our errors from the past and all, people should have changed their mind, i think persons that do that, are stupid and ignorant, sorry but they're, it looks like we're back in 1700-1900's

I've never been to a place in Canada that discriminates tbh. We all drink maple syrup and get along. Well I guess in the larger cities there is more discrimination.

In my city (northern mining town) we have very few other races. Majority is English and white or French and white and there's very little descrimination even with minorities being so minor.

I know how you feel. My father's side of the family is Jewish both in the sense of devout religious faith and descent from a geographical location and growing up I got teased all the time for being / having Jewish roots and a Jewish last name. It made me ashamed to be different or to be part of a culture different from most Americans and I wanted to be the same as everyone else.. as I grew older and gained more perspective I realized that other people's perceptions are not a valid method of defining me and I have to be my own person and not give a fuck what others think, especially for something as dumb as heredity or belief.

How do you respond to discrimination towards the minority?

I've been born here in the country i live in at the moment. But my parents come from another country and have fled from the war. And i still get confronted at school with discrimination often, it often comes to my head how people are possible to just discriminate other people while people are people, evryone is equal. In the end it doesn't harm me for a bit but it just feels like faith in humanity is lost, ( I am 16 right now ) and when I was 12 i even remember a teacher of mine being racist about a religion when not knowing i was from that religion. Ofcourse he apologized afterwards, but the thing is even if there is no one near u that could feel discriminated, you shouldn't do it anyway. The majority of the people is brainwashed these days.
