    Introduction

Hate always having problems with your PC? This guide was designed to reduce the computer
smashing to save you time and money. It covers everything from disk space to internet connection
and blocking spy ware. All you need is a PC and hopefully a brain.

    Chapter 1: Performance Speed

Who doesn\'t want a fast computer? This chapter introduces you on how to make the best out of your PC.
Just follow the easy steps I wrote for you and you\'re on your way!

    .:[Operating Systems]:.

The first thing we will cover in this guide is your operating system.
We\'re not going in to much detail here, just enough to get you a little
    familiar with what you\'re using.

If you\'re thinking about upgrading your current version, it\'s recommended that you also upgrade your RAM if necessary. We\'ll talk about RAM in the next chapter so don\'t worry about that now.

The following are the minimum (Not really, but anything lower and I\'ll swear you\'ll be swallowing 35 pain killers instead of 3 to 5 like Terrel Owens. requirements for different operating systems:

Windows XP: Pentium 4 Processor with 512 MB RAM

Windows 2000: Pentium 3 Processor with 256 MB RAM

Windows ME/98/95:Any Low Processor with low RAM

As always, read official manuals first, and internet guides second, but if you\'re a brainless
idiot, take it to CompUSA or Best Buy or some sh** and they could do it for you.

    .:[RAM]:.

The higher Random Access Memory (or RAM for short) you have, the faster your computer will run. Two of the computers at my home both have 512 MB and the other two have 1 GB each.
If you use many programs at a time or use programs that take many memory like Adobe Photo shop
or Auto desk 3ds Max like I do, then I think you should have been smart enough to make sure you had
enough RAM. There\'s really not much to talk about in this section, except to tell you that not all
types of RAM can fit on all computers. Each series of computers has a type of RAM assigned to them,
so be sure to check your RAM type. To find out what type of RAM is compatible with your PC,
refer to your manual or go to your manufacturer’s website, type in your computer\'s model number and
    search for your computer\'s specifications.

    .:[Defragmenting Your Hard Drive]:.

In this section we will go over defragmenting a hard drive. This process is suppose to increase
CPU speed and gain you a few bytes for your hard drive by using your operating system to break files into tiny little pieces. It\'s pretty easy to do, the hard part is waiting for it to completely finish the task. It can take 30 minutes for a 40 GB hard drive but up to a few hours for a 200 GB one. I recommend you leaving your computer overnight, this way you won\'t have to wait so long. Doing this frequently will also cause your operating system to take less time to defragment your hard drive again.

    Step 1: Double-click \"My Computer\" and a window should pop up.

Step 2: Right-click hard drive \"(C:)\" and click on \"Properties\".

Step 3: Click the \"Tools\" tab and in the \"Defragmentation\" section and choose \"Defragment Now...\"

Step 4: Select hard drive \"(C:)\" and click on the \"Analyze\" button and a window should pop up.

Step 5: You will get a message asking if you want to defragment this hard drive, click \"Defragment\".

Step 6: Leave your computer on and do something else while waiting for it to finish, just don\'t watch porn.

Step 7: When it finishes, just move your mouse one last time and close the window.

Congratulations! You have now defragmented your hard drive! Remember to do this weekly to keep your
hard drive in tip-top performance. It will not take as long, so don\'t worry.

    Chapter 2: The Internet

Ah...the internet. I bet you didn\'t know that it had other things besides from Sythe gaming and porn! XD
This chapter reveals how you can increase your internet speed and protect it from dangerous
spy ware, viruses and other security threats.

    .:[A Faster Browser]:.

Most people use Internet Explorer for some reason, but they don\'t know the dangers of it.
Lots of hackers hate Microsoft, so they target I.E. Mozilla Firefox has little hackers and even has
a tabbed-browsing feature, but like all browsers, it can still get viruses and spy ware. I still recommend Firefox, because users can actually program their browser to run faster. This process doesn\'t require professional programming knowledge, anyone can do it. If you have DSL, a single web page can load right when you click a link. No more waiting for Jessica Alba videos to load!

Step 1: Type \"about:config\" on your address bar.

Step 2: Copy and paste \"network.http.pipelining\" on the filter bar.

Step 3: Right-click \"false\" under the value column and choose toggle.

Step 4: Copy and paste \"network.http.proxy.pipelining\" on the filter bar.

    Step 5: Repeat Step 3.

Step 6: Copy and paste \"network.http.pipelining.maxrequests\" on the filter bar.

Step 7: Right-click the number under the value column.

Step 8: Choose \"Modify\" and change the number to \"30\".

Step 9: Click anywhere on the window and select \"New\"> \"Integer\".

Step 10: A window will pop up. Copy and paste \"nglayout.initialpaint.delay\" on the text box.

Step 11: Another window with a text box will pop up, and type in \"0\". Click \"OK\".

    Step 12: Close Firefox.

An alternative to this is downloading the FasterFox extension for Firefox. If you
wish to be lazy and do that, then go to mozilla.org and search for the extension there.
I don\'t recommend this since lots of bugs were found with the program. If you\'re patient,
    just follow my instructions.

    .:[Protecting Your Computer]:.

Think of security software as an investment.
Here\'s an example of why you really need to have them!

1: You spend $1000 on a computer, not to mention another $1000 you spent on software.

2: One day you get an email with a bad link on it, and being your idiotic self, you click on it...

3: Ah! Pop-ups are invading my screen! An adware program just installed itself. Spyware and keyloggers just found out
my RuneScape and Sythe (Ut oh, there goes your vouches!) password\'s and other personal information. A virus deletes crucial files...

4: You think to yourself: \"Oh man! If only I just bought that security software! There goes $2000
and hundreds of hours down the drain. Wait a minute... What\'s worse is, I could\'ve gotten some of
    them for free!\"

I know, I know, very cheesy (but this is a true story *cough*I know I\'m an idiot*cough*...)

If you think you have a few spare dollars to spend, then buy the security programs!

Here\'s some of the best, yet affordable security software I found on the internet.
Please do not ignore the Mail-in Rebates! They could save you a lot of cash!

McAfee Security Suite- $49.99: After Mail-in Rebate. (Recommended)
Norton Internet Security 2006- $49.99: After Mail-in Rebate. (Not Recommended, it\'s a piece of sh** that got
dipped in a piece of sh**)

There are a few more, but I personally do not like them at all...

If you don\'t have some spare cash at the moment, download some security software for free!

    AVG Anti-Virus
Lavasoft Ad-Aware SE (A must need! I don\'t know why but it\'s a MUST NEED)
SBC Yahoo! Online Protection Suite (Need to be subscribed to AT&T Internet Service)

To block pop-ups, simply download Google or Yahoo! toolbars (even though they\'re crap).
