    Support it? Hate it?

I say that the right to bear arms is a necessary and significant part of our contract of personal freedom. And this includes automatic assault rifles. However, such a matter of responsibility should require strict entrance:registration would be more along the lines of owning a car, including the obtainment of a license based on MERIT. Furthermore, in this sort of environment where gun owning is so nicely allowed, the illegal obtainment and ownership of a gun should be EXTREMELY illegal. I could get into more deep reasoning, but i dont feel i need to unless someone disagrees.

I don't see a point in having one TBH, they seem fun at first, but i'd give up the right to keep a bunch of killings from happening.

This is American Government class all over :p. I support it for protection of oneself. If someone breaks into your house and holds a gun/knive to you you have no reason why not to defend yourself.

If guns are outlawed, then I doubt they would have a gun in the first place. Even if they made their own, it would be poorly made, I doubt most criminals are the brightest of people.

Ehh but what are the chances that guns will be outlawed? They are used by the police force, CIA, etc.

You can't actually "give up" a right. Rights are too closely tied to your nature as an independent being that needs to act freely to survive.

If you outlaw guns, only outlaws will have guns.

When you say criminals, are we speaking of your jump into the 7/11 and take the $200 they have in the register criminal, or more along the lines of mafia?

The idea behind outlawing guns is that fewer criminals will have access to them.

Criminals will still find a way to get them.

Just like prohibition, people still made/distributed alcohol. You will never get rid of something, just decrease it.

Right, so like I said, fewer criminals would have access.

I'm not a supporter of gun control, I'm explaining the concept.

I believe in the right to bear arms. If this was taken away, criminals would still get guns, but now the good people wouldn't be able to defend themselves/feel protected.

I support it for two main reasons:
    1) I don't think some people should be able to tell others what property they can and cannot own
    2) With guns illegal the only people possessing them will be criminals and the state - not something I want.

Fuck the right to bear arms. I support the right to arm bears.

... all mediocre joking aside, I support the right to own guns and use them for self-protection on your property. I don't think its alright to be armed in public, because you're obviously going to have A LOT more gunfights than normally. Imagine two macho-men accidentally bumping into one another, they begin arguing about who's fault it was and they're both too proud to back down... things will inevitably escalate and before you know it, one might shoot the other in a moment of blindfolded rage. That's just one of the thousands of possible scenarios that could unfold. Lest we forget; honest folks could have their guns taken and used against them by criminals.

    1) Has it been shown that communities where guns are banned are safer? Is there evidence that shows that?

    2) ...and then still the only people with them would be criminals and the state.
