    Enforce the Death Penalty Again?

I turn the television on everyday to see bashings, murders, shootings etc. Society today is continuously becoming more endangered with criminals that are killing and traumatising children and adults.

I was in the car with a friend discussing a friend of theirs who was severly bashed and brought me to the conclusion that if he died, the criminal should be killed .

    For instance,
Dennis Ferguson - Renowned Australian Paedophile who has ruined and traumatised several kids for life . Jailed for 3 YEARS! ONLY 3 YEARS!

Murderers - J. PATEL- A fake surgeon who operated on 10+ people whom one of which is a friend's mother and all died soon after the operation.
    5 years in Jail!

I ask you to bring forward your opinions. In my opinion, I ask for the death penalty to people who have committed such vicious crimes that have resulted or led to death/suicide.

A death deserves a death, yes there may be some underlying cirumstances that may call for a closer examination of the punishment, but that should be the basis.
Yes ghandi said an eye for an eye leaves the whole world blind, but don't you think after awhile people will stop in fear of losing their own? or atleast find better ways to take them without getting caught. Guess you gotta take the good with the bad.

I think for multiple homocides and homocides involving children that the death penalty should be inacted. Rival gang murders and things like that shouldn't. I also think if someone kills somebody in prison it should be an automatic death penalty.

    Agreed with both of you..

I have also come to the conclusion that crimes on dogs/cats etc, are being treated more seriously than child molestation/rape.

    Disgusting..

Don't get me wrong, I love animals but children live for 10 times longer and must carry a scar for their entire life..

It seems justifiable for some to kill somebody who has killed, but I will argue that it should not be done.

Death as a punishment was used since time began, I think that in the 21st century we are a better society than to kill people.

I think it is more of a punishment to keep some one in jail for life is more of a punishment compared to taking the easy way out just dieing. It is also cheaper to keep someone in jail rather than using the death penalty.

There is no credible study which shows that the death penalty deters crime.

And studies from groups such as the innocence project show that we have executed countless numbers of people who were proven innocent after they were killed.

I just don't see its use any more, it is very flawed and has no proof of being effective.

The only problem i see with the death penalty is the small percentage of people who are wrongfully accused, they do not deserve to die because they could not prove there innocents.

Ok, I see where your coming from.
A person who falls victim to the death penalty who is justifiably convicted will have his life cut and won't suffer long term pain.

So what if they were placed in a confined space and had no interaction with life.

i totally agree with you. it's disgustingly funny how some criminals are just let off with a mere few years in jail, whereas their victims are scarred for life.

If we give people who rape and kill second chances, that means were basically saying everyone can rape and kill once, serve your time and then be free, but if you do it again you die.

5 years for 10+ deaths? What bull shit is that? Rofl.

He should seriously be punished for longer than that. My dad got 5 years for less than a gram of marijuana.

I agree that those were very unjust rulings, but I don't think that warrents the death penalty. I'm not entirely sure what the jury look for in crimes that make them chose between a life sentence and the death penalty..

What were the conditions by the fake surgeon? I mean was he working for a hospital or did people just come over to his basement for heart surgery?

I assume it wasn't at a hospital. Some doctors work from home, and actually have their whole setup in their house. So I'd guess it'd be something like that, although I don't know how people could be fooled on something so serious.

These are extremely rare cases. A majority of the cases end with massive amounts of jail time.

On-topic: No, the death penalty should not be used. The reason people justify the death penalty is because of the 'eye for an eye' principle. When in fact, putting someone in jail, and robbing 40+ years of their life is significantly worse. If someone committed a mass murder, would you want them to take the easy way out and be killed? No, I would want him to spend the rest of his living years in a jail cell with shitty food, no human interaction, no friends, and no hope. That's way worse than the death penalty.

The only problem from this is that the money it costs to hold a prisoner for life sentences and what not are rediculious amounts and almost always cost more than the cost of the execution + any future appeals. Now maybe we may want them to suffer for what they did but in the end that's just a vengeance pleasing action. In reality the best choice is the death penalty because it free's up space, resources, and money.

here's my opinion, murderers should get what pedophiles get (max of 10 years)

an pedophiles should get life cuz they don't kill the children they make them live in a world of hell for the rest of there life? wtf is that man .. u ruin countless lives get caught serve 3 years some guy shoots someone gets 25, first off pedophiles ARE NOT CURABLE they will always be pedophiles so 3 years isnt goin to do anythin but stall the nonsensess that will make those kids screwed up resultin in suicide or death..

as for murderers i think the punishment should be max of 10 years if it's really bad but honestly pullin a trigger on a gun doesnt take much you just gotta look at the situation.. someone kidnmapps someone an tortures em b4 killin them deserves 10 years, buta simple fatal gun or knife wound should not be as long.. not to mention they don't suffer half as much as the rape kids as it is a death which will usually take 1-30 mins if fatal.. a child has to live the rest of there life scarred unable to operate properlly .. an what happens the goverment gives rapist less time!!

conclusion : serial killers ,pedo's, ruin morre lives

murderers:end lives which can't be taken back true but it doesn't pain them for as long. \

i think the 2 should be reversed sentences..

I concur, If you take someone elses' life, or Commit Rape, or w/e. The death penalty should be in place.
You don't have the right to take another persons life, and if you do take someone elses' life; You should get yours taken from you.

Hm I'm not so sure about switching the sentences, mainly because, murderers took a life which is irreversible and cannot be in any form taken back. While atleast with a pedophile the child can receive counseling and can work towards returning to normality. Yes many don't because of the trauma but they can.

It seems like your shortening the basis of a killing to the pure amount of pain someone felt as they were being killed, when you also have to imply the variables of well...their life ending, family left behind, problems caused by this death, etc etc etc. Also, your kind of diminishing the weight a life holds in the law, (also pedophile cases can receive 25 to life under other circumstances, its not like 10 years is the maximum). While in pedophile cases they are sexually assaulting and traumatizing the child/adult. While the sexual assault can hold some concrete weight in court it is harder to enforce an extra 15-? years based solely on the victim being traumatized, (this is usually used as a case support and not implied in the case itself)

Also the whole thing about pedophiles being un-curable eh....un-curable is a hard concept to enforce since your probably going on the definition that they will be completely healed and have no more pedophiliac tendencies, when in reality this kind of cure doesn't exist. Although there are past pedophiles and ones that haven't committed a crime that have these thoughts but don't act upon them. Should they be chastised for simply thinking about it?

Exactly lol, i mean it makes sense when we apply it to other things taken without permission. If you steal from a store or someone else you are expected to reimburse them the amount due. Since a life has no specific value, the only logical sense for it would be to take a life for it. Although this interpretation can be skewed rather easily.
