keyloggers in .rars?

Can you get a keylogger from a .rar? I just downloaded one and all it has is .class files for a script, is there any way a keylogger could be hidden in the .rar/.class files or somehow on my computer just by downloading it? Or are keyloggers all in visible files?

 

It's possible to put a keyloggr in .rar but not sure about .class.
You don't get keylogged by downloading it, you get keylogged once you open the file.

 

so if there was a keylogger in the .rar i would have gotten it by opening the .rar file/folder?

 

No, lets say you open the rar file.
And there is diffrent files in there like

lets.exe
play.exe
fair.exe
if you open one of them, you can get keylogged.
The keylogger might be in the files in the .rar

 

i see, all it has was .class files which I placed into my rsbot and then ran through rsbot, and from what i found through google, keyloggers can't be in .class files so thanks alot for the info. If anyone knows weather or not rsbot scripts can contain keyloggers/malicious material, please post it here.

 

scripts cant contain anything like that, but the program its self can.

 

Actually, Java is a very good language for hacks. I wouldn't be surprised if someone could write a stray bit of code to lock itself into your system and at least grab your RS info. however, chances are it won't happen.

 

A software keylogger can be installed by .rars files. It would probably record keystrokes from an O/S soft keyboard like Microsoft, depending on where exactly it hooks into the operating system.

 

Any file extension could be infected with what ever virus you want. If it was infected in the .rar it would open on extraction?

Pretty sure it's mainly executable files, just open it and scan with malware bytes straight away, I've got some class/rar files on my pc

 

I've been told by a lot of people that .rar and .exe are the most used to hack people.

Just don't accept files from people unless you 100% trust them.

 

Definitely possible for a scripter to put in a piece of code that directs key strokes to him. Decompile the .class files and post the source here so we can check it?

 

most hackers don't use those/attempt to, because it's obvious and extremely fishy

most people will try to either rat you via java drive by which mimics the run java icon, which ends up transferring a rat to your pc(victim). basically giving him access to all your pc.

that is the main way for "hacking" nowadays. people that use random .exe's and .rars are trying to mass spread for probably a bot farm

 

You'd be surprised how many times I've had someone add me to skype and go "Are you buying RSGP" and send me a .exe file or a .rar file and say "This is how much I have how much will you buy it for?"
