2006scape vs Runescape?

What's your thought/opinion on the private server that's talked so much about? I don't get the hype. I think it's some nostalgic mind control that wont last for long. It's pretty much old content that looks disgusting. I guess because I'm so used to and like newer graphical updates brought by jagex.

Besides the fact that the site/server can be shutdown any time, and from time to time gets ddosed or is off for some unknown reason. I'd say the private server got more donations than any other server without it actually being open to the public. I'm pretty sure the owners are just going to milk out all the money they can get before the site is shutdown for breaking violations of any kind towards jagex.

Also the promoters going around telling others to go to this private server is only doing themselves wrong. I don't think the server will ever be completed, they can try their best to replicate the old server, but it just wont happen.

Arguably, most of the players actually promoting this server cannot enjoy runescape because of a few reasons explained here.

- Having not much money
- Cannot endure grinding
- Small attention spans
- Mostly players who never actually experienced runescape in 06
- Suffering diarrhea

Thoughts?

 

Everyone will always cry and complain about the past. No matter if it has to deal with Runescape or real life. It's just how most people are.

I personally have no interest in playing 2006scape.
I love change and I find no problems in Jagex's new game idea.
Thats my two cents.

They got a shitton of donations becouse of the paid Pre-Aplha.
Also, theres a huge community that is willing to pay a fee to play on proper servers.

I'm probably gonna play on 06scape or another server, there like 4 or 5 2006 servers in development. Which are better than 06scape.

 

I originally joined 06scape just to see it and did also join RS2007 it failed but I never donated *proud* It never got even on, even though looooots of people donated on it, then there came RS2006, it got DDosed and I joined before that but never donated, and now I've given up on it lol, the community is also full of '11ers and trolls and bad apples so I don't really wanna play it anyway. The real rs is better even though I always like the 2004 - 2008 RS better lol.

06scape will never be fully completed, I think it's just a HUGE scam.. that is why I never donated to it back in 2011 and not in 2012 either

 

take this garbage to the right section the private server section .. 06scape is just hype they have been taking peoples cash forever and havent even released a decent product. i genuinely feel sorry for the donators . its vaporware people .. a scam

 

A guy donated for me in 2006Scape for free, he also donated for other +20 persons, there are alot of good people in the community, it's not the best, but it's way better than the Runescape one.

Also, I have hope in the project, Beta is going pretty well and it's pretty fun

 

I think the reasons you have why people want to go play it are false, the main reason clearly is because people don't like the recent updates coming to RuneScape e.g Combat Rework, Squeel of Fortune etc.

Also i do agree though, i don't think the server will be successful and maintain a large amount of members for a long time with a smooth running server, original RS Will still be no.1

2006scape is definately overhyped.
I've seen 2006 remakes that are alot better. Even the ones that get almost no donations. 2006S only got so popular because of it's name. I mean, even someone like I with no java knowledge could make a better remake if i got all that money (over 50,000$) from donations. Plus, i wouldn't just leech a source and tweak it a TINY bit like 2006scape did.

But as for runescape, it's pretty much done. It's been completely wrecked by microtransactions and failed attempts to modernise the game (evolution of combat) It's still playable, i still appreciate logging in to PK on my pure, but i got much more enjoyment out of it back in 2011 and earlier.

 

This above is so so so so true.. overhyped, and true, it was leached and I think it's all a scam too.

Also 100% agree with the 2nd part, it was enjoyable in early 2011.

 

You can't compare something that is never online (2006scape) to an established community (RuneScape).

That is as justifiable as comparing ANY RSPS to RuneScape. 2006scape is a community of kids who can't accept change and adapt to new communities, they want 2006scape for "pking". Learn to pk to begin with, people who go to 2006 are wannabe pkers who think they're some bodies, hence why you see no famous pkers going there. Real pkers adapt.

 

That 06scape shit will be gone in like a week. Will just be forgotten and everyone will move on to the next big thing.

 

Don't think these kinds of servers have any lasting future.

Saw similar outcome when RS2 came out and oldschoolers set up private RSC servers to these peoples not willing to adapt to the changes. They usually either died of poor performance/administration or people just got bored and slowly left. As time went on, less and less people cared about the older Runescape. Now the times have gone so far that people don't care about RSC at all and want to play older RS2 but that will change too in few years. Soon people want to play the Runescape we had before all the spinning and RWT etc and RS2006 will be forgotten. :laugh:

An MMORPG like Runescape needs updates to keep people interested. Content, graphics, engine etc all needs updating over time. Why do you think some older MMOs are still around while others have died off?

 

I get what you are saying but, there was something very unique about the mid 2007 era that i just can't explain. Maybe it was the godswords i liked so much back then, i don't know.

Still. Runescape was Fine before 2012 when they started messing up armour looks and adding spins and solomons and eoc's you know what i mean. I used to play this game alot in 2011 now i only log in to start scripts, and talk to my friends list.
