I'm talking about just basic website hacking, not none of the hardcore Carding, or bank theft stuff here.

Do you think that hacking someone's website should be illegal? However, in Russia, its not. There is no internet rules there.

    Yes it should be illegal.
It's basically stealing in a different way.

^ Being as it's a paid for website, I would consider it "stealing."

It should be illegal. It's essentially the same thing as breaking and entering into someone's home. Even if you walk in and don't do anything, it's still illegal.

    You can't hack.

Majority of people that own websites have put some sort of cash into it, along with effort as well. Making their website go slower, crash, or deleting information, etc, causes them to lose on what they could have if you weren't hacking. Therefore, it is in an essence stealing.

It depends of what you mean. If it's hacking then I think it shouldn't be illegal. If it's cracking then certainly it should be.

Hacking is useful to a website owner. The problem is that what are mostly out there are crackers and not hackers.

Probably because they don't care. It's usually the same countries in which tons of other crimes happen.

Hacking as in stealing and using the website for your own benefit? or hacking as in defacing their property for a few giggles? ex put a funny banner you made where something should be on their site?

Second one, still illegal but i dont think it should be very punishable but yeah thats about the extent of hacking i think people should do.

look at cp's ranks fool. just because you can do some cool party trick with command prompt doesnt make you a hacker.

But back to what i think, yes it should be illegal your messing with someone eles's property wheather it be invading (trustpassing), changing (damaging) etc. etc. etc. now matter how you spin it, it should b illegal.

his ranks make him able to know my capabilities woah, thats pretty amazing. Hacking can be easy or hard, and I'm able to do the easy parts, and will never be able to do the hard parts. By easy parts I mean SQLi, XSS, and RFI. While I will never be able to be able to hack using exploiting vulnerability in programs. Also I can do super cool hacks with telnet, and netstat :D

OT: It it was legal everywhere, then the internet would be a much more dangerous place

    Hacking = Breaking and Entering.

Doesn't mean you have to steal anything, but IRL that is a serious crime.

I see everyone saying " yes It should be " but I haven't seen any good reasons to suppost the answer.

What about like.. spreading viruses? Should that be illegal aswell?
