What?

Some girl posted a picture of her smoking a hooka, and she is underaged, so I asked my friends about it and they said that a new law came out and it said you are allowed to use the "tobacco products" at age 17, you just can't buy them.

Anyone heard this?

 

In some states this is the case, from what I have read since reading your post. Which was still shocking, but this could be the case depending on what state you live in, or country.

 

It's legal to use tobacco products at 16 actually, at least in Georgia. You must be 18 to buy them of course though. It's been that way for as long as I can remember.

 

In New Jersey you can use tobacco products at about any age, you just can't buy them if you are underage.

 

I believe this is the law where I live in Canada. I'm not sure though as I've never really put any sort of research together. Nonetheless cops don't bother anyone smoking tobacco products here.

Are you saying that you are allowed to smoke or chew tobacco at that age, but just can't buy it?

 

Yeah exactly. Pretty stupid law. It's not like anyone would get in much trouble with the law for being underage and smoking anyways, so kids are still going to do it. The only thing that is really taken seriously is selling tobacco to minors.

 

here in Florida, i know plenty of 17 year olds that have gotten tickets for smoking cigs when cops were around.

 

In Utah, you must be 18 to smoke, yet 19 to purchase tobacco products.

BUt not all hookah molasses have tobacco in them, if you get the herbal ones they're legal at all ages
