Allow banned users to post in the dispute section. This would cut back on banned users making new accounts to dispute and then use the excuse that they needed to register to post, not to mention it would just be easier.

I dont know if it is possible to do this, but if it is, it couldnt hurt?

Chris has a good point. This could also prevent impostors from posting disputes for members.

I think there is an opinion that makes it so that they just can't see the forum at all which makes much more sense. They can post without registering which works just fine.

I'm pretty sure that they can post as guests.. Which is why it says "Unregistered" before their name..

They already can (albeit only once per guest name). The posts will usually get merged into one thread if a response is necessary.

I support. When I was banned someone posted a dispute posing as me and almost ruined my chances. Luckily the IP was identified as a proxy and then archived. There was a suggestion sort of similar to this a while back.

I kind Of like the idea But if they post as unregistered the need for this is redundant .

I think that this would benefit users for what chriscross stated, the other reasons are rather pointless as they can just sign up as un-registered

Right, but I think Sythe doesn't want them to be able to see the forum at all. And I don't think they'd be able to see their ban reason if they could still see the dispute forum...

No support. They can just use an unregistered guest name to post a dispute. As for the 'impostor disputes', a Global or an Admin can easily check the IP address of the person who's posted the dispute to see if it's actually the same as the banned account.

I know, but when your banned you get that nice little box... Thats a opinion in the forums settings for the banned user-group which I don't think would show if they could still see one forum. Its a nice idea. I've thought of it plenty of times its just that the implementation may be difficult... But I don't know exactly.

I support, i see no point why banned users can't dispute while loged in, you can still see forums when loged out anyway.

I highly support this idea. In fact, when I was banned for 3 days, the ban lasted for 4 and half days and there was nothing I could do.

I support the idea, when my friend was banned for a stupid reason..and he tried to dispute it someone else (posing as him) tried to ruin his chances by flaming etc.

I have a similar suggestion, allow banned users to view there PM box. THis helps in some cases which I'm too tired to point out.

Implementation would be incredibly easy. All you have to do is go into the forum permissions for the banned user group, remove all of the permissions except the permission to post new threads and reply to their own threads in the dispute forum, and there you go.

You also have to untick 'banned user group' in the user group settings in vbulletin.

The user wouldn't be able to see their reason, but that's why you make it so they can also see their inbox as Magic Arrow said, and require moderators to simply enter the ban reason in the 'Send Message to User' or whatever box.

They already have to enter it in the other place, this is just a copy+paste, so not much extra effort at all.

Good suggestion, this would prevent users from posting disputes for other users, you could remove guest permissions for everything except password recovery, and users would only have one thread for their dispute, instead of having to reply in a different thread.

    Mucho support.

What about the *BANNED* next to their name and the slash through and stuff that all appears? I'm assuming thats from the banned user group opinion in the settings.

    There is no such box.

That comes from the username markup underneath usergroup options. Just like mods colors come from the same input field.

There's an option "Is this usergroup a banned usergroup" or something like that in those options as well. Selecting no under that makes it so they can see the forum. Then you just have to edit their permissions specifically.

It's disabled then. Not hard to re-enable it. You have your list of infractable offenses, then a custom infraction field, then you have another one below that which allows you to send a message to the user as to why they are being banned and whatnot. I'm not sure if it was included in a later version of vBulletin or not, but getting the plugin would not be difficult, then it's a question of editing the moderators who can ban's permissions.
