I'm so sick and tired of people thinking that the majority of people and basically enslave the minority. The whole reason the US has a constitution is to LIMIT GOVERNMENTAL POWERS. The country used to be based around the idea of freedom. If you look at the Articles of Confederation you will see our forefathers wanted to have something as close to anarchy as they could. The entire purpose of government is to protect individual rights. While we're here, lets clarify a few things.

You have a few basic rights that no one can take away from you. A right to life, liberty, and property (or the "pursuit of happiness"). That DOESN'T mean you have a right to take the money of others by force so you can have a house. That doesn't mean you can take the money of others by force so you can eat. It doesn't mean the government needs to provide you with a job nor does it mean you are entitled to a free education. All it means is that if you work hard and happen to be able to buy land, the government has no authority to restrict that freedom. Unfortunately, not only is the government too large, they too restrict these basic freedoms. It's an abomination when you can't sell YOUR body to someone, take a substance that alters YOUR consciousness, or tells you what you can or cannot do with YOUR land.

This could've been a lot better, but I don't give a fuck. 90% of the people on this site are brainwashed by their parents and/or the media, and of the 10% who aren't, maybe half are educated enough to know what I'm trying to say anyway.

So what your saying in simple terms is that the goverment is controlling our lives? Why do they restrict so many things is it like there our parents and have to watch over us all the time, do we not have the abilty to reason and make decisions on our own? I agree with you 100%

I agree 100%. This is why I consider myself (to a great extent) Libertarian. funny thing is, these days, most people don't see why government and other people shouldn't control our lives. But that's cause they've grown up in a world where has become the norm, and acceptable. There's a big difference between classical liberalism and modern liberalism and it's not just economic policy. I hate the two party system. Both have major failings and neither respect the rights of an individual.

Unfortunately we're stuck in a self perpetuating cycle. Media and government influence each other to become the same thing. People and their parents mostly hold views that they have been programmed to believe. Few actually have their own beliefs these days. I think religion is one good example. Funnily enough, the concept of government mostly evolved out of religion...
It's a group of people telling you what to do with your lives. Well fuck that

    edit:
Useful graph for looking at basic political views... Although some groups refer to themselves as 'populist' for example, when they have policies that differ greatly from the conventional idea, as is the case with many 'liberal' groups

Meh, call me brainwashed, but I like the way I live.

Anarchy won't work, hasn't worked, and isn't physically capable of working - it's dependent on greed, yet at the same time a respect for others rights.

Sure, if everyone was good, self-sufficient, and anti-collective, you might bring about such a society.

I agree and would consider myself a Libertarian, however like all ideas of how to run the government it has its problems.

Ex 1) If you could do whatever you wanted to with your land companies would dump massive amount of pollution onto land and into the air. The government today limits the amount and tells companies how to deposite their waste. Without the government enforcing laws such as these pollution would soar.

Ex 2) The US governments forbids monopolies. With pure economic freedom every oil company could get together and deciede they are going to charge 25$ per gallon of gas. Which we would have to pay because we need gas. The government today passes laws so companies cannot do stuff like that.

Those are just 2 economic examples of how government helps.

And if I lived near such a company I would sue them for polluting my property.

You would probably enjoy this video (there are 4 others but I'm only embedding the first)

That's not an example of a monopoly.
Even if for some reason a couple of companies decided to do that, one of them might soon realize they could make even more money by selling it at $15 a gallon. Besides, if you know the prices are too high, you could start your own company and make a killing. Your example is just so unrealistic - that sort of thing would never happen.

Also, the US government doesn't forbid all monopolies, just ones it doesn't like.

Although I agree with a lot of an anarchist's views, I agree with the way the founding fathers decided to create the country. A central government that holds slight powers to keep the country intact is necessary, and so far it has seemed to work nicely but yes the government is getting a little carried away with its power. Although I don't agree with all taxes I admit that they must be had in order to keep the country running properly. The majority of laws are in place to help the general society be safe and feel safe and it is very helpful when you consider the possibilities of what could happen without say the police on hand whenever you need them. Most people would say we will not be a republic in 50 or 100 years, but I can almost guarantee we will not be a republic in 20 years just based off of the way politics is going and has been for some time now. Wether you want to believe it or not the rich do control everything and greed is slowly diminishing what this country was set out to be in the first place, and in time this place we call home will no longer be ours but I just hope I'm gone by then :p

Yea, sue them by who's authority and on what grounds? Your authority? The band of mercenaries that you hired?

But it does - especially when the entry price is high, thus few entrepreneurs can enter. Your assumption of "price vs quantity" equilibrium is based on the atomistic market - yet reality presents a very finite number of entrepreneurs. Sure, prices are indeed very stable when it comes to making socks - but when it comes to making airplanes and meeting energy needs, you'll find suppliers with a more distinct advantage.

And finally, anarchists fail to address the "public good".

National defense is a great example - if you didn't have to pay for it, why would you?

Democracy is Bullshit, apparently we have "freedom", seriously we get taxed on everything. There aint no Point in working anymore, nowadays if you don't have a job you earn more than a Person with one! I don't call that equallity... nor freedom nor whatever.

    The world isn't fair.

In most cases, the United States Government, through organizations such as Medicare/Medicaid and Welfare, tries to make it fair; that is why it is useful to have a government.

And the Articles of Confederation was forsaken way back when the founding fathers realized that it was way too weak...

And work on your grammar would you? The errors make your argument much less compelling!
