First ever gfx work

Hey, I'm new to gfx and photoshop. I created this picture from scratch with the help of a tutorial I watched.

I think it might be too big for a sig, what dimensions should i resize it to?
Comments are appreciated on how I can improve and other easy projects/pics a beginner can work on.

 

I'm guessing its sposed to be a planet? If so the top part is to bright it needs to blend with the darker side better. A signature is normaly around 420x150 any were in that ball park is a normal signature size.

Thanks for the advice. And yeah its a planet/moon whatever you see it as. Do you think its decent enough to combine with some other pic to make into a signature?

 

Honestly, If you're going to do a tag you should start over now that you got the feel of the program a little bit. Not that it's bad but its not really tag material if you get what im saying

 

Alright. Btw I love your signature. Where do you get the original pictures from to use to make a sig? google?

 

I use many places like deviantart.com (with authors consent) lookbook.nu,google, places like that.
