    first build idea, suggestions plz

so, i was looking to build a pc under $1000, and this is what i came up with:
(this also includes other stuff like monitor, keyboard, etc)
    http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16827135204 disk drive
    http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16811129087 case
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16811992005 fan ctrl (i kinda just wanted this)
    http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16822136769 hdd
    http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16824009350 monitor
    http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814130660 gpu
    http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16817182133 psu
    http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820576003 ram
    http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813186225 motherboard
    http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16819115090 cpu
    http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16832116986 win 7
    http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16833704045&Tpk=TL-WN722N wireless internet

thats pretty much it, and when i review what i picked, something keeps telling me i picked the wrong mobo, and probably some other stuff too, which is why im posting so people will (hopefully) give me better suggestions/ help. Anyway, any ideas would be appreciated.

To start off with, ditch the i3. At a minimum I would suggest you use an i5-3570k, or an i5 3470 if you do not plan on overclocking.

Next, to accommodate the CPU go with a Z77 chipset motherboard. These support ivy bridge, which you will be using if you follow my recommendations.

You have overcompensated in the PSU department, you could easily power your rig with a 500W system, but I would go with a 550W-600W to be careful.

Pick up 8 gigs of ram, 2 X 4gig sticks. It is dirt cheap and you will need it. You chose a 64 bit OS anyways, so why not get the most out of it by using the main reason people go 64 bit?

Your case you chose looks nice for sure, but is it worth it?
If you are trying to keep it under $1000 you could get a decent case for $40 and upgrade to the i5. The i5 will give you tons and tons of power over the i3, it will be noticeable. Cases are more for aesthetics anyways, people claim better airflow but in a system like this you don't need great airflow.

Everything else looks okay, the monitor should be upgraded though. You will want a much higher resolution than what that can provide. If you are dead set on that monitor save $100 and go with a cheaper GPU, because even lower end GPU's can play games on high settings at a low resolution.

I threw together a decent system for you. I kept your case, fan control, monitor, HDD, disk drive, and wireless thing.

    http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814130625 GPU (a slight downgrade)
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16817182082 (550W since justinkiller suggested that)
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820231314 - Ram 8gigs (I got good ram. you can get it cheaper if you want)
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813157301 - Motherboard (I couldn't be bothered to actually find a decent cheap one so I chose kinda randomly)
    http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16819116504 - -5-3570k (since it was suggested)

    Your total would be $977.89

The motherboard you picked out is actually an H77 chipset motherboard. This chipset does not support overclocking, so it would be a waste to get the K series CPU without a Z77 mobo.

Here are two different mother boards I picked out for him. The rest of the build, with your modifications look spot on.

Basically the difference between these two is the brand name and bios. So either or would work perfectly.

On another note, I recommended the 550W psu so he would save money, but that PSU is a little more expensive:p

Oh, lol. There's so many I can't really be bothered to search through them all. Here's a 600w cheaper one: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16817159128

I was thinking about 8gb ram, but in one of my other 64 bit systems, i currently have 4gb installed, and ive never used more than 75% of it, and it only gets that high when im playing skyrim and have about 8 ie (i know, ie isnt the best) tabs open, so i never felt a real need to go over 4. I see motherboards that can support up to 64gb ram, and i dont know how someone could use that much ram.

that 600w psu looks nice, its more power, and its modular, which is what i like most about that psu. Im a little worried about that one though as it only has 2 reviews as of now, and i look at reviews alot when i look for a psu, since i dont want one thatll malfunction and mess up my components.
Thanks for all your helpful input though

I upgraded from 4 gb to 8 gb ram (1333 mhz) on my PC and I definately saw a (small) performance boost, even though I wasn't fully using the 4gb ram I had. Upgrading from 4 to 8 gb ram is just 20$ right now, there is no reason not to get it as you will definately benefit from the upgrade.

That PSU looks nice, the two reviews that it has are nice. You can look at other sites to see if you can find some reviews there.

The suggest build so far is a neat build, especially for it's price.
