It looks like a miss-communication to me, not a scam attempt. Do you still have access to the account of which you gave the username and password to him?

You need to prove you had it in the first place, a before and after screenshot. Yes, it's a hard request, probably impossible to prove after the fact, but we can't go banning everyone because people claim they dropped all their stuff which we can never confirm they even had in the first place.
