~~finally ... THE USERBAR GUIDE~~

ok people, in this tutorial i am gonna show how to make a user bar llike in my signature.​

this will be the result:

requirments:

WINDOWS XP lol
Photoshop CS
Visitor TT2 BRK font

Steps:

Step 1: A cool font
Step 2: Installing the font
Step 3: The creation of the userbar
Step 4: The colors
Step 5: Gradiant tool
Step 6: Elliptical tool marquee tool
Step 7: Making scanlines (pattern)
Step 8: The logo
Step 9: Text
Step 10: Final touch

-Step 1- A cool font

we need a cool font for making our userbar, in this tut ill use this one: Visitor TT2 BRK font, you can use others ofcourse but i am gonna use this one. download it at: http://www.dafont.com/font.php?file=visitor, download it to your desktop and unzip it on your desktop too.

-Step 2- Installing the font

now we need to install the font you just downloadedso we can use it in Photoshop, open C:\WINDOWS\Fonts and copy the visitor1.ttf file into it. it will automaticly install.(you can copy visitor2.ttf too but that doesnt matter i installed only 1). the rest you downloaded you can delete because we arent gonna use that. now you are done with step 2

-Step 3- The creation of the userbar

now we gonna use Photoshop, open it and make a new file: 350x19 pixels.

-Step 4- The colors

i will make a userbar about gears of war so ima gonna use the colors red and black.

-Step 5- Gradiant tool

then we use the gradiant tool, make a line from the top to the bottom, you should have something like this:

-Step 6- Elliptical tool marquee tool

click and hold the rectangular marquee tool, 4 tools will pop-up, click on the elliptical tool marquee tool and make a selection like this:

when you still have the selection press CTL + U , a sreen will pop-up, set the lightness to 50 % so you have a glass looking effect. then press ok lol.

-Step 7- Making scanlines[/SIZE]

now we gonna make new layer press CTRL + SHIFT + N, give it a name and press ok. on this layer we will apply the scanlines.
here follows a quick guideabout making scanlines. open a new file and make it 3x3 pixels and make it transparant. click on the brushtool untill you see 2 new tools, use the pencil tool and set him on 1 pixel. first zoom the 3x3 to 1600 % and make 3 diagonal stips that should look like this:

once you did that go to edit > difine pattern and give it a name and press ok.
then you go back to your userbar file, go the new layer you made (it should be empty) press CTRL + A to select the whole picture and right click and press on fill.

make sure you have these settings set!

click on Ok and you should have something like this:

-Step 8- The logo

then search the logo, i will use a gears of war pic now. copy and paste it, its now in the userbar but not on the place we want it so press CTL + T so you can move the pic and reduce the size, then apply it. it should look like this:

-step 9- Text

now its time to add some text, ill use this: proud player of gears of war. just click on the text tool and on the option bar use the font Visitor TT2 BRK. use 12 pt so your text looks cool!!!. but wait we arent finished, it sucks now because its completly white. ok select the whole text and clock on that little F in the left bottom in the layer section.

click on the F and then on stroke, make it 1 pixel and the color black, made a pic of it how it should looks like!

now press ok and there is a nice black stroke around the text!

-Step 10- Final touch (is not neccesery)

this is the final touch: a black border around the userbar so its looks perfect!!. make a new layer by pressing CTL + SHIFT + N and press ok. then press CTL + A so the new layer is selected, go to edit > stroke
and take over these settings:

( i didnt used the black border on my own sig because i dont like but you can do it if you like)

lol i didnt looked at that i made this sig only for the tut.

i saw that many people needed help how to create one and thats why i made this tut. and the sig, i made the sig really fast so thats why its not perfect

its not a full guide, only some simple lines
maybe ill make a better one

Anti-aliased text, render over scanlines.

UBs are very basic, so any crappy error should make you think twice about how careful you are being with your graphics.
