Filtered Display Names

I have taken this helpful post and created it in the form of an accessible thread so that the information can be made more available. This will help clear up some of the confusion as to why certain display names are randomly banned, or not able to be created due to "offensive language'.

Jagex actively filters certain names for a variety of reasons. This is a list of most of the names (english words) that are currently unavailable on Runescape:


1) Words beginning with "Dep" - these are associated with department, could be conceived as an official or authority figure and are filtered. Some names beginning with "Dep" are taken possibly before the filter was created.

2) Words beginning with "Mod" - these are associated with moderation, could be conceived as an official or authority figure and are filtered. Some names beginning with "Mod" are taken possibly before the filter was created.

Modem
Modern
Modest
Modesty

3) Various other words related to authority figures:

Admin*
Cop
Officer
Police


4) Words that have "ira" located at the start - relates to the Irish IRA

Ira*
Iran
Iraq
Irate
etc


5) Some words that end in "aze" or "azy" - possibly drug related? I'm unsure.

Ablaze
Haze
Hazy

Keep in mind, however, that some names: Blaze, Glaze, Daze, Laze, Lazy are not filtered. Whether this is because they were taken before the filter was added is unknown.


6) Some words relating to drugs, alcohol, and sex are filtered while others (possibly because they have not been online and reported) are not:

Sex* and all its synonyms (obviously!)


7) Swear words in any form - I won't bother listing them.


8) Words that end in "lude". I have no idea why - maybe a foreign swear word? Ironically the name "Lude" itself, is taken:

Conclude
Delude
Elude
Exclude
Illude
Include
Interlude
Occlude
Preclude
Seclude


9) Various words that end in "fic" and some that contain "fic". Once again, I can only assume this is some type of vulgarity:

Aritificial
Difficult
Efficient
Efficacy
Horrific
Office
Sacrificial
Scientific
Specific
Traffic

10) Words containing "pass". Due to the relation to password/passphrase:

Compass
Compassion
Encompass
Impasse
Pass
Passage
Passive
Surpass
Trespass


11) Various other words that are filtered, whether because they are banned accounts, were manually deleted due to name sales, or for reasons unknown:

666
Effort
Fault
Future
Golden
Good
Grave
Great
Helmet
Mail
Wrinkle

Please note if you buy a name that fits one of these categories it may be automatically filtered on transfer.

For part 11, those shouldn't be listed. Sure that particular word is banned but names containing them aren't filtered.

Except for Wrinkle
For some reason "Wrinkl" is filtered. Doesn't matter if you put random letter before or after it, it says "inappropriate content"

"Ban" is filtered in the create an account screen but not in the change your username section for members.

"Bank" is filtered in the create an account screen but not in the change your username section for members.

The word "Hoe" is filtered.

The word "Runescape" is filtered.

The word "Asle" is filtered if the name starts with it or has a space in front if it.

 

uhm, Runescape isnt filtered, its not even a banned name, its probaly a locked account or something.

 

Just checked again. It is.

Any name I try to make that includes "Runescape" comes up saying "Name includes inappropriate content"

 

This is why, in RuneScape Classic, everyone named their "bank" accounts (a separate account from their main that held most of their wealth in case of a hack, etc.), was named * Mule.

 

RuneScape is a locked account. It was locked for various reasons but one reason being it had a lot of owners and RWT.

 

Efficient is actually a name in-game now, talk to him here and there. Other names still seem correct tho.

 

Java is a filtered name.

 

I remember trying to take cop and when i got to the second screen I thought it was open and it wasn't fml haha =P

 

Great and Beer were deleted because they were being sold then reported to Jagex

 

This needs an update. A lot of the names are available now.
