    When does running stop being miserable?

    I just started running and this is about my second week and it still absolutely blows. I get home and it feels like my lungs are collapsing from the side splints and it's just awful.

    On Wednesday I ran .83 in 8:25 and today I ran 1.14 in 12:13... which sucks. When does running stop being miserable?

    I need to be able to run 5 miles by the end of May. I'm starting Creatine on Monday but I don't know how much that'll help either. I use RunKeeper on my phone and it says the elevation change is 76ft.. so the second half of my mile I'm running uphill.. I don't know if that is steep or not and how much harder that makes a run but oh well.

    A month or two, then it's pure ecstasy. Don't stop, you won't regret it. I'd also advise you against using supplements, but that's a personal opinion.

    all creatines going to do is reduce lactic acid and recover muscle faster. lawl
    i also recently started running, its like pure torture but it feels good after.
    apparently you must just keep at it for it to feel half decent.
    thats what ive heard, as sith said :D

    creatine is the worst supplement you could take while running. it's mainly used for lifting weights as it fuels ATP-PC system which is mainly used in maximum effort activities such as 100m sprints and lifting sets.

    My advice is you need to run in your "steady state". and with time your body will use oxygen more efficiently by creating more red blood cells and help transfer of oxygen around your body.

    Your whole diet needs to be in check, that means adequate calories per day, an amazing post-workout meal is absolutely critical, your pre-workout is also very important.

    pre-workout - low g.i = oatmeal, wheat, whole grain etc.
    post - high g.i = lollies, honey, bananas, white bread, liquids, juice etc.

    you will need alot of carbohydrates if you are going to run 5miles a day, good luck.

    Are you trying to sign up for the marines? I have a friend who is in college and he wants to join the marines and he is also trying to run a lot... I would never join the military would be too freaky.

    I can only run like 1 mile before I get tired.

    I think it depends on the person; it's all mental, or based on opinion. Some people don't like/hate running, while others love it. Many people only like running when its involved in their favorite sports. If you enjoy soccer, basketball, or American football, you could use those as a substitute for straight running.

    Lol @ no supps.
    Creatine is used to hold water weight (body produces this naturally) for people to look more full usually when bulking (lifting)
    Can also aid recovery time. Although don't think it will help to much with running.
    I stand to be corrected though

    I run track and cross country and take creatine. It's completely fine just make sure you are drinking 1 gallon of water a day bare minimum.

    Creatine will most likely make you gain weight. More weight = harder to run.

    JUst stick with it. Running is great. No one can really give you a straight answer because we don't know where you are starting from.
