I have no problems with good people who are religious. It doesn't impose on my life so i could not care less. All though i don't agree with big organized religion. I wouldn't consider myself atheist i don't know what you would call me. I think there could be some form of higher being out there. I think all religions have it wrong and i don't think whatever might be out there really cares to much about us.

His predecessor wasn't really at that good and failed to tackle major problems the Church was facing, such as the child abuse scandals--but that is just my opinion. Hopefully this Pope can :/

Haha I never really noticed your signature up until now. I like it :)

Hopefully he's up to the task of solving the problems that Pope Benedict couldn't. He's going to face a lot of criticism if he can't perform.

My co-workers and I were just talking about him. Apparently he's an extremely progressive individual, a lot of ideas on how to change the religion to suit the masses and the times. I think it's a ridiculous notion to try and change something which has been fundamentally the same for thousands of years, but I really don't care either way since I'm atheist. My co-worker/boss lady said there was some total reform in the 1970's, something nicknamed "Vatican 2.0" or whatever, and she says (being a devout catholic), she expects this pope WILL make more drastic changes.

Not sure how I'd feel about that if I were Catholic

You'd have to expect difficultly in proving yourself (those accused) innocent if they actually are. I've always know it as innocent until proven guilty and that's never the case here. I'm going to take the child abuse into terms of sexual abuse for example. A mother saying that Father Charles touched her little boy =/= proof of anything. Yeah, it's a common accusation against the members of the Catholic Church and people joke about how the Catholic priests are known to molest children, but it's hard to prove you didn't touch a little kid with a furious mother and a scared son by her side whether it's true or not. The Pope should have risen above and beat the cases to Hell, yeah, but as I said, it's a difficult task to do.

The pope will rake in the donations and then casually retire like Benedict XVI.

I don't care much for him, my view on the catholic church is that it is a vile organisation. They have been one of the main organisations behind the oppression of women and homosexuals and their stance on contraception is outdated. The senior figures of the catholic church are extremely arrogant and they mingle too much in political issues. Not to mention they had quite a big part to play in the dark ages in Europe, which resulted in quite a big setback for civilisation in general and the effects are still felt to this day.

Lets all ignore the fact that the previous pope should be convicted on covering up a systematical collection of child abuse and mistreatment.

I literally do not give a single fuck that this specific primate has been given the social constructed position "The Pope". He's a sleeping, breathing, and shitting primate like the rest of us.

Just their ranking system. It takes a while to move up in ranks.
