Does it work if you plug directly into where your internet comes from, like bypassing the router?

If you haven't tried this already unplug the cable from the working PC to the not working PC; to test the cable and port.

Google the name of your PC and try to find your NIC card drivers.

If that doesn't work go to Start | Run | cmd | ipconfig
and post a pic of that

SuF you can't bypass your router

that is just your computer to computer connection, you will need if on dial-up 2 phone jacks, or 2 ethernet coords Connecting one computer and using the other computer for net aswell is kinda tricky and a bit annoying. dunno if this helps or not.

Ummmmm yes you can. Just plug the cable right into your modem or cable thing. My modem is a router / modem but for most people its just a modem. A router is just a thing that "routes" your incoming and outgoing things so you can have a network. If you only have 1 computer you do not need a router.

Anyways, yea take a picture of ipconfig /all. Do the /all so we can see everything.

Have you tried setting a static ip adress? That sometimes helps things like this.

Well go to CMD and type "ipconfig /all"... and if you hover over the internet icon is the lower right part of your screen does it says something about obtaining ip adress?

Have you tried unplugging the router for 10 minutes? it usually resets static ip's if there is ip conflict.

Yep, if you set a static IP it should work, but maybe there isalready one set which is causing the problem.

    Full Guide Here

    http://www.portforward.com/networking/static-xp.htm

If in step 9, there is already stuff in there select "Obtain Automaticaly" for both. If there is not stuff in there, go to the comp that is working and do ipconfig /all and use the information from the WORKING comp.

    Hope that will fix it,
    SuF
