Being able to use chat logs as proof

My friend showed me this program called OTR a few days ago and it seems like a solid plugin...

It provides:

1. No one else can read your instant messages.
2. You are assured the correspondent is who you think it is.
3. The messages you send do not have digital signatures that are checkable by a third party. Anyone can forge messages after a conversation to make them look like they came from you. However, during a conversation, your correspondent is assured the messages he sees are authentic and unmodified.
4. If you lose control of your private keys, no previous conversation is compromised.

Basically to initiate a private conversation and verify the person, you message the person on sythe the code and the person is verified. Here is a screenshot of the config for this.

I've never had a problem with MSN, and when my chat logs are needed if a trader I MMed for got scammed needs the logs, I will provide them. There are cases in which staff will accept them (Mostly from people they can trust won't edit chat logs) to know the development of a case from another POV.

The problem is that chat logs can be edited(Just editing the xml file) and cannot be trusted.

I'm talking about MSN chat history of course. Some people don't even bother to take the history logs, but rather copy & paste the text >_<

Also, this plugin is not for the things most Sythe users use MSN/live.com/ebuddy

I'm not saying this would be bad, but it won't be successful for what you suggest.

No support. The problem with chat logs is that they can easily be edited, and I don't think this solves that problem.

Most people use MSN Messenger to communicate with others for transactions as it can be easily accessed via Online Messengers and chat logs can be editted via Photoshop​

 

Well I just thought i'd throw the idea out there. Using this method, you will not have to deal with imposters. Also it can be used for msn, irc, etc(pidgin is the easiest to set it up with).
