Extra rule for the spam forum?

"Do not create hate threads about a member". I've seen many of these threads and it was just plain mean. I've had it done to me quite a few times, during the time when Harped was here. Irritated me to no end.

Anyway, it seems that the OT mods, Sindre and Kadaj, are already closing all these threads. Why not add it into the rules? The spam forum is place to have fun. Not to insult people by making these threads and have everyone come to it and post hateful things about the person.

I think it should be fine to gossip about other users in the spam forum. It's what the spam forum is about...To take that away would virtually destroy half of it and have about 95% of it's posts infracted.

 

It sorta goes under the no flaming rule. Creating actual hate threads is not mild flaming, so just report them and move on I guess.

 

Not really. It's in the rules to flame specifically. "You stupid fucking idiotic moron. Your sheer stupidity astounds me" will get me infracted. But I see these threads like "lolololololol this guy is such a fucking newfag. Hahahaha get the fuck lost" and all that crap.

I don't mean that you aren't allowed to create threads to gossip, but close the truly mean and hateful threads. Threads just poking fun at members should be left alone.

 

Just report and move on pretend like you didn't see the thread. And just cause someone says something about you doesn't make it true.

 

To some people, having fun usually means insulting other people. That being said I kind of agree that if you do it it should only be for jokes

 

To me it sounds like you want this rule implemented because you're on the bad end of the joke. That's unfortunate, but that's the way the cookie crumbles. If these people insulting you are that bad, add them to your vB profile ignore list(http://www.sythe.org/profile.php?do=editlist, I believe) and you will not be able to see their post anymore.

In my opinion, you have to have extremely low self esteem if you're being hurt by words over the internet, though. Just remember you don't have to visit that section - plus, it's the spam forum. At best you can expect nothing but well, spam; that's a given.

Anyway, I have to run. In short; I don't support. It's silly to implement such rules over someone calling you a "newfag" & severe flaming is already against the rules.

I think necro is pissed because people used to hate him and make those threads. Spam forum is fine, why mess with it?

 

It's not fine to create threads specifically targeted at another member in order to make them feel bad or to express your hatred towards them. It's completely out of order and if I see continued assaults from people, they will be permanently removed from the spam forum.
