[DENIED] Extending Moderated Sections

Simple Suggestion:
Extend the moderated status to the RuneScape Account Sales/ Max Main Rentals section. Meaning it would require a Market/Global/Admin moderator to approve it.

Reasoning:
I will preface this by stating this is a fairly aggressive suggestion.

To start off, the main goal of this is to make it much more difficult for someone ban evading to start up. Account sales are unique, where the scam doesn't necesarily happen during the initial trade. A lot of users wait for the victim to place wealth and items on the account to recover it, which means they can remain dormant for months. Obviously, even with this suggestion that can happen no matter what but its still worth mentioning.

Having these two sections moderated means users on Mobile/VPN's won't have a chance to post their threads. A mod will go over the thread to see if it includes all the requirements as well as if they have a Home IP on their IP audit.

A lot of effort goes into catching users who only have a Mobile/VPN as their account creation IP, but unfortunatly many still fall through the cracks.

As you can see with the second photo, there is nothing to go on through the IP Audit. This user can go unnoticed by staying on the same dedicated VPN IP.

I hope this is interpreted as an attempt to make buying/ renting accounts slightly safer, and not just an attack on the free market. I think it could be very beneficial and prevent some scams from happening.

I'm not sure of the current moderation in use on gold threads checks for home IP etc, but if it isn't, then it should also be applied there too!

 

I agree on moderation of the name sales section. as a former name seller, there is a lot of untouched or garbage threads floating for 100% post count and whatnot. there is quite a bit of cleanup that could be dealt there and itd be nice to see a change.

 

@Tyler A good number of these max main rentals don't get to scam because @sj709 is always reporting new hosts in that section (at his own expense actually). As you know, creating an account on a Mobile/VPN Ip warrants a TWC but thats only if they get caught in time.

While I agree, all of the blame is on the buyer here, I still feel that preemptive measures heavily outweigh reactionary in this instance.

Search tawk.to in Sythe search and find a user that isn't banned apart from 3 who are/have been active long term users.

Since I made that thread Wortel posted above, the amount of people who have posted it and have been later banned for evading/scamming has increased loads

Would rather a global gives a reply to this or at least someone talk about it in SL

 

Moderating the section doesn't fix the scam issue and I worry that moderating the section is implicitly saying that every thread approve is somehow safe/not a scam. I welcome suggestions to fix the underlying problem beyond just bandage solutions like moderating sections that are prone to scams

 

These are better ideas and I welcome others from anyone

 

I don't think monitoring the threads more closely on these sections would imply that they're all "safe" of course there is risk. I think we can all agree that most of the time if someone creates an account on VPN its not a good sign. The problem is that these tend to go undetected because they will use a fresh VPN, where only a Moderator would be able to tell. If there was some sort of bottleneck system, it would severely hinder a ban evaders chances of getting by.
