    Smart drugs: Ritalin, adderall

I know alot of students take this when there either studying or trying to concentrate on something. I was wondering if anyone has any experience with adderall, ritalin or any other type of ADHD medication. Do they work and are they effective at keeping your attention not wander.

They're best not taken incorrectly. They're made for medical uses, not personal benefits. Hahaha.. I saw a movie where some guy sold ritalin and he was off the wall on it...

I personally have no experience with them but a lot of people at my school take em and seem to think they help but idk. It kinda seems like they do but then again it might me the placebo affect.

I'm prescribed a 54mg Concerta and I hate it. I will pop one if I need to get alot done or important tests. I took one during the sat's and made out with a 1500, n ot too shabby.

    Pros :
    Insane focus
    Drive to do more
    Increased energy, or atleast mental.

    Cons :
Loss of appetite, and don't think you wont lose it. I won't eat the whole day.
    A shakey feeling, jitters.
Lasts 12 hours, You won't be able to sleep until the 12 hours are done.

Yeah I tried it once before school. It helped me focus more on things and I comprehended things a lot more on it. Bad side is I had trouble sleeping the night of, though.

I took two Ritalins with some friends and once it kicked in, I felt a wave of energy bursting out of a shell spreading throughout my body, I loved it, but like a few side effects suck like dry mouth (I drank at least 4 gallons of water that day, pissed like mad) and I had trouble sleeping.

I tried some of my friends adderall while studying for finals once. It was alright, but I didn't like it that much.

I used to be prescribed ritalin, but I discontinued that after too much of my appetite was affected.

Now I have adderall, which I take occasionally, but only when I need it. The medicine DOES work, and makes a significant different. If you take it 12+ hours before sleep, you shouldn't have any real issues, but the over-focus and appetite problems are annoyances that prevent me from taking it on a daily business.

I have a little experience with ritalin a while back. I took it at about 8 p.m. and was wired till about 10 am. It was perscribed so i sold the rest of the pills. But i think ritalin is a fun drug.

Damn I wanna try this, I was diagnosed to almost have ADHD. My mind wanders, and my senses are extremely heightend, so if someone is at the hall talking, I will hear that, and loose my track of the studying in class.

But I said no to ritalin.

I have taken it a few times for important exams, one thing I can't stress enough though is that you do not know how your body will react to it. Don't start off taking it before your largest exam, take it before a class, a small quiz, something small where it won't matter if you screw up. I have seen people get really hyper on adderoll, to the point where it would be impossible to get them to sit down, let alone take a test.

my overall opinions on these prescriptions and/or prescribed drugs are that they are not needed, there are way more safer options to fain focus and treat ADHD

It's not much more effective than any stimulant (like coffee), unless you actually have ADHD and concentration problems to begin with.
