How will rares crash when free trade/old wilderness come back?

They can no longer be used to dump junk, as all junk will have become worthless and truly junk (as in, not retaining any value).

Hence they will have less value for merchers and will lose value.

Not only merchers buy phats. I don't think they will crash but i'm thinking of hyperinflation.
If freetrade comes back it will be so easy to sell your gold meaning the prices for gold will go down. On the otherhand people will be able to buy more gold and become richer. This would result in an inflation of the rs coins.

 

If PVP statuettes become discontinued (as I expect they will) the extent of the long term inflation throughout Rs will slow down and stabilize at some point.

People trading their gold from one account to another will not significantly affect this slowing down of inflation.

This is also the reason that phats cannot maintain the price they are currently at - there will, arguably, simply not be enough gold in the game for them to maintain such value.

 

If the grand exchange stays then your wrong. If the grand exchange stays manipulation will still be taking place. Junk will still be coming into game from merches. People will still be raising their items. Gp will still be coming into the game just like always. Junk trading will take place just not like it used to be. Junk trading will be much different now, but if the grand exchange stays it won't be gone. Junk comes into the game from dumped buyouts. Buyouts take place from the grand exchange. Lower rares will crash, higher rares will raise.

 

I respect your perspective, but what's the point of having a limiter (G/E), if you won't have one in the normal trade window. It dosen't make sense at all, either there will be a limiter on both sides or it won't be. G/E is going to become something like EBAY.

 

They said they would keep the ge but I think the prices would just be suggestions for what you should trade it for.
