Safety of the members is more important than your silly rank.

Safety? Anyone can scam. Ex-mod or not. jelly, lol

I'd like to think most ex-moderators have a decent amount of vouches. What stops them from coming back and scamming people because the trader see's the ex-moderators vouch count? The ex-moderator rank shouldn't imply trust, it should only imply that X user was a member of staff for at least 3 months and didn't breach the staff code.

This, I have over 500 vouches, albeit I do have a TwC atm, but assume I didn't, I left for a year, came back. I still have those vouches, ex-mod rank or not and I can still scam.

Although, ex-mods are more likely to get hacked, so I do see where you're coming from. Maybe if they're inactive for 6-12 months it can be taken away, but right when they're active again they can get their rank back.

After being on staff for 3 months, at least one other staff member knows your contact information. In my case, a lot of staff know my information. For example if I were to scam, or be hacked and have users scammed off my account, staff could present my information for legal action. Plus most ex staff would be willing to repay anyone that was scammed because of their account being hacked, because usually when an account is hacked, its due to your own stupidity.

No support, we put a lot of effort in for the ex mod rank, and we know the responsibilities that come with it. Thanks for your concern.

This is the type of idea i was shooting for, not just taking away ranks from people who earned them, but i dont feel it should be given back RIGHT when they get back just to see if they do any shady shit for say 1 week or so just because of events in the past, that way only the real owner of the account or someone quite familiar with the owner would even know to ask for the rank back. This would deter a hacker from claiming exmod accounts quite a bit since they wouldnt automatically have a respectably ranked account at their disposal.

The thing is, it DOES imply trust in most peoples eyes. Pen for example wouldnt have been trusted with a phat (that he ended up scamming after a period of long inactivity) without the ex mod rank, or atleast thats the way i feel. Im only trying to come up with a feasible proposed plan to deter stuff like what happened with pen from happening again.

Instead of posting "support or no support" like you yourself are a moderator chiming in on a high pardon or something how about you guys contribute some reasoning as to your thoughts or something to resolve the issue at hand.

Jesus Christ, the post was a joke. wow trolls aren't even funny anymore

it was posted in the spam forum for a reason
i didnt mean for that stupid post to be even brought to so much attention, btw you were quite serious it seemed. this isnt about you and your stupid drug dealing lol

You would think that, but thats people who are ACTIVE. This suggestion is about exstaff who are extremely inactive.. nobody compensated for pens doings hacker or not (from what i gather peole know/think it was him who did it). And "legal action" you would be laughed out of any police station talking about the virtual gold or items that are most often scammed, i dont know what sort of "legal action" you are referring too but i assure you its non existent.

Read above. There's not an "issue at hand." Pen was an ex-administrator, not an ex-moderator. Pen also had a longer post count than my penis. Other staff have scammed, but their information is readily available, so scamming as an ex-staff would be truly retarded. Ex-staff are no different from trusted members. Trusted members could also go inactive and then come back and scam. Should we remove their vouch threads if they're inactive for X amount of months? Don't go setting a double standard.

You arent getting a LARGE portion of what im addressing so let me break it down a little bit more, 1) "contact information" isnt going to do shit. 99% of the scams that go on on sythe arent punishable by any law and MSN, skype ect all have a go offline option. You cant do shit with "contact information", furthermore if the account gets hacked whilst still having the exmod rank and then used for scamming or the like your contact information would once again, be USELESS. 2) My OP said ex staff, not specifically ex mods and that isnt relevant in the least, either rank implies trust. More than any swinging dick and his vouches unless he is just EXTREMEEEEELY well known like grave or R2P or someone similar (which by most general sythe users the ex mod rank would still imply more trust) . Vouches can be faked or doctored, ex mod rank cant.

oh sweet lord...

1) the post you refer to in the OP was in the fucking spam forum for god sakes. if you take anything serious in the spam forum, i highly recommend you disconnect your internet and then throw your computer out the window.

2) pen's scam could not have been predicted, prepared for or prevented in any way. regardless of his ex-admin rank, he was, or so everyone thought, one of the most highly regarded members in this sites history.

3) members with the ex-mod rank earned it. you really have no idea how much time we volunteered whilst on staff; answering spam reports, dealing with scammers, disputes, etc etc. the rank is a small token of appreciation for all the effort we put into helping the community. when you go through the staff system, maybe then you can talk.

4) at the end of the day, removing an ex-moderator rank still wouldn't prevent a scam. they are still an ex-moderator any way you look at it and can still freely advertise such.

this has to be one of the most retarded "suggestions" i have seen in a while.

This is a very valid point. This plus the addition that they have worked hard to get that ex-mod rank so they should not lose it just because they are inactive for a bit.

No support, I agree on Syed, NickV and JohnK. There is a reason why you have to do something to earn something. They have put countless of volunteered hours into the Community whilst being a staff member.

Example: If you earned a badge for doing something at a place (Volunteer) And they would have taken it back from you, because you didn't contribute anymore.

Thus, I do not support this.

@austin, grow up. I edited out the shit you posted about (before you posted this mind you) and you STILL go on about it, that wasnt my point and including it at all was a mistake which i edited out to keep guys like you from complaining any further. I digress, keep your shit talking melodramatic BS in the spam forum.. i pop in there from time to time feel free to rage there.

My shit talking? Sorry that you're just an idiot and doesn't think things through before posting. I don't 'live' in the spam forum, and it's pretty idiotic to think that.(just like your suggestion)

Read johnk's last post it basically summarizes what everyone has said.

p.s. you didn't edit anything out. have a nice day. :noworry:
