Does this happen to anybody?

Okay, so I was listening to some songs I used to enjoy a while back, and I always thought of stuff I was actively doing while listening to the song. For example, I listened to a song, "Hey Driver", and I remembered me runecrafting on RuneScape. Oh yeah, that old Olay lotion commercial came on, the one with "I'm Walking On Sunshine", and I remembered me being in the basement doing a quest. It doesn't only happen with RuneScape, but other things too. Does this happen to anybody else? I think it's actually quite strange, but it does bring back great memories.

Oh yeah, I can also remember the smell of something sometimes. For isntance, when I listen to the song "Disturbia", I remember being in my friend Asian friend's house, and his room. It's so amusing. o_o

There some songs what having memories, its sounds wierd but its true

A friend of mine showed me a song online a couple of months back, and the mood I was listening to it was like: My house became warm, but I was like feeling a bit gloomy. I listened to the song a few months later, and I sort of had this gloomy feeling.

Same goes with other feelings. Sometimes if I listen to a song I'll remember back to like almost 3 years ago when I had my own private server.

 

It happens to me too, certain songs and sounds bring back memories.
For example, if I listen to Big Yellow Taxi by Counting Crows, it brings back memories when my Xbox was working & I was playing Halo 3.

Lol yeah same thing happens to me. I used to always listen to BlesstheFall and The Devil Wears Prada when i played Call of Duty 4 so it always reminds me of Call of Duty 4. System of a Down is a band I listened to a lot in my mom's truck so that reminds me of her truck too lol.

 

Yeah it happens to me. Birdman's "Get Your Shine On" reminds me of Runescape because I used to have like a 20 song MP3 player I used when I played Runescape. That was one of the songs. So was Juvenile - Back That Azz Up.

 

Yes. Everytime I hear "Best of You" by Foo Fighters it reminds me of the good ol' days in RuneScape before I was hacked.

And "Bodies" by Drowning Pool reminds me of PKing in the classic Wildy.

Mainly cuz I listened to "bodies' while PKing and "best fo you" while merchanting. but it does bring back memories...

 

Unfortunately yes. Every time I hear "Holy Diver" (The cover by Killswitch Engage) I think of my fishing in the fishing guild. I was pretty much obsessed with that song at the time.
Also, whenever I hear any song by Nine Inch Nails I just think of Abyss Crafting, which I did for months straight.

 

It happens to me all the time. I heard a song I hadn't heard in almost two years and it reminded me of doing a clan event at the Tzhaar Fight Pits. It was amazing.

 

I remember listening to "Bed of Roses" by Bon Jovi when I was with my ex. Then I go all emo.

 

System of a Down's Mezmerize album, back in 2005, I listened to that so much playing Runescape, oh my, that's one I really remember. But I can think back to 'remember doing this while listening' events to probably hundreds and hundreds of songs of mine.

 

Yes, I totally recognize this , and I have a valid explanation , if you do something your brain connects a web of two points between those two actions, if you do this often this web becomes stronger and stronger (ex: studying). You associate the song with the runecrafting by having it done once or more!

Am I the only one who finds it a bit... Sad that songs remind you of an online game?

 

It's not sad one bit. It's how your brain works. Your brain connects two things that are often affiliated with one another. In this case, peoples' brains connected certain songs to certain activities in RuneScape. It's completely normal.

 

Then I guess it's just me.
Well I didn't expect to be outsmarted THAT quickly

 

That's what I'm here for.

Anyway, you should do a little experiment. Take something you do everyday, such as riding home on a bus. Everyday on your way home listen to the same song. Do it for like a month or so. Then listen to the song a few weeks alter, and I bet you the first thing that comes in your mind is you riding that bus home.
