I'm not sure, just a normal essay. This is worth 25% of my GCSE grade.

Well i would suggest you start with an attention getter for your introductory paragraph. The attention getter is a very important start to your paper. It drags the reader in and it usally makes them want to read on.

Now after you got there attention state the main points of your paper. 2-3 main points will help you write this paper.

After coming up with 2-3 main points, come up with atleast two details (per main point) that supporting the main points.

Wrap this up together and form the intro paragraph.

    Intro-
    1. Attention Getter
    2. State main points
    3. Wrap up it up

Body paragraphs have 13 steps. I know it seems alot but it got me through college. Follow these steps and you will have a perfect paragraph.

Step 1- What is my main point?
Step 2- How can I reword D1 without stating it?
Step 3- What is my first specific D1?
Step 4- Not necessary unless your paper has works/authors. Cite Works.
Step 5- What important info does my reader need to know about D1?
Step 6- In what ways does it connect to your main point?
Step 7- How does D1 relate to D2?
Step 8- How can I reword D1 without stating it?
Step 9- What is my first specific D1?
Step 10- Not necessary unless your paper has works/authors. Cite Works.
Step 11- What important info does my reader need to know about D1?
Step 12- In what ways does it connect to your main point?
    Step 13- Wrap up sentence

You can use this process for any body paragraph.

    And finally the conclusion

    A. Restate or Rephrase Thesis (1 or 2 sentances)

    B. Rephrase or Restate Thesis Statement (1 or 2 sentances)

    C. Summarize (don’t explain) three Main Ideas-

    1. 1st Main Idea (1)

    2. 2nd Main Idea (of 2nd paragraph)

    3. 3rd Main Idea (3rd paragraph) (IF NEEDED)

    D. Summarize your final thoughts and provide a call to action

There ya go i know its alot but it helps a lot trust me.

I know all of that but thanks anyway, I just need help with the question. Macbeth and Great Expectations are two films. The question is "Explore the theme of ambition and its effects on the main characters in ‘Macbeth’ and ‘Great Expectations’."

Here you go, I think this website summarize it quite well. Remember to only use this website for examples or for getting information. Don't copy the whole thing down, you will learn nothing from it. Try to use the website so that you learn from it. Good luck!

Play around with the theme of ambition being used as a juxtaposition of success. In other words, over-ambition essentially leads to tragedy. Keep this thesis throughout your essay and you should be on the right track.
    Good luck.

I just finished year 12 HSC (equivalent of year 13/GCSE) and we had very similar essay questions to answer. If it's anything like what we did, which was quite vigorous and difficult to master, then:

You need to make sure you have at least 2 thesis points developed around the main point which is the theme of ambition. You then need to incorporate both of your texts and discuss how your thesis points relate to ambition in each of them.

One thesis could be something like "ambition can be key to success or defeat", then you would link that to Macbeth, and the same with Great Expectations in another paragraph. Make sure you have several techniques (4-5 is a good number per paragraph/thesis point) and plenty of quotes/other evidence to back up what you're saying.

Also you need to underline your key texts, ensuring that you have spelt them the correct way, with capitals etc.

Good luck, if you're still unsure, just ask.
