END of OSRS Services Emminent?

With the latest wave of reddit righteous indignation, the Jagex team has vowed to take a look at user services and set a hard line against the matter.

Does this mean the end of user services?
Will services now have to be conducted through teamviewer or personal proxy?
How much angrier will poor OSRS veterans with 1k hours dry for DWH get before the end of the week??

I see jagex taking the same very vague stance they have had on it all along. This has always been an issue and as far as i have always seen aslong as you are not botting, competing(Deadman mode) or ranking high on the highscores or anywhere else you have nothing to worry about its not worth the time to monitor. Think about how long it has taken them to even touch account security or start to review bans. I personally do not believe much will change.

 

I think we are getting closer and closer to an RS3-style AI profile of your mouse movements.

however, I know that the parent company of jagex probably understands that all of the money shunting through the game because of botting and services is a LARGE portion of their market.

I want to say as well that the linked post says that they are deliberating on a hard-line stance. That it will happen soon.

 

If you legitimately are concerned on Jagex actually taking a stance and actively enforcing account sharing outside the Inferno and now for all bossing, skilling, mini game, skilling, etc. you must be new and I mean that half sarcastically but also honestly. They won't do shit and the only thing they'll say is the same type of shit they've said about 3rd party clients, basically a whole lot of words that actually say nothing.

 

With Sir Pugger/other YouTubers, Reddit, and other various entities trying to take away botting, you would think botting would have ended a long time ago, right? Nope.

I think the same with User Services. How can Jagex REALLY know if your brother or friend is on the account? Or if you have five different houses in different locations?

I think people get banned from User Services because they aren't careful...

 

Jagex has repeatedly spoken about taking legal action against Sythe. There are also sophisticated user-profile methods that they could implement, it's just a matter of them doing it.

 

I still feel Pugger is an inside man getting paid out for promotions but as said above I can't see anything being done about services unless they start cracking down a bit more on rwt.

 

I think it would be hard for Jagex to differentiate user services versus a friend.

 

My rare account got banned yesterday for services, Jagex are definitely taking a deeper look than they used too ages ago

 

There isn't a viable way for Jagex to stop services because it is pretty common for players to play from a VPN or multiple different locations. They can't ban for it without inadvertently banning many legitimate users in the process.
