I was called and emailed legitimately by PayPal regarding me sending gift payments for virtual goods. I suspect this is from notes that I put, is this true? How can I avoid this, just simply not set notes?

    Thanks in advance,

You need to understand that by using the Gift option for virtual goods transactions, you are cheating Paypal's system. They put the Gift option for people who are actually sending Gifts to friends / relatives. By abusing this payment option, you put your Paypal account at permanent risk. And for what? The rumour about Gifts being safer is 100% FALSE. Gifts are no safer than ANY OTHER payment.

Yup, if you send as gifts you run this risk of getting limited. It's happened to my PayPal in the past and I know there are a couple people here who won't receive/send gifts anymore.

Just stop sending as a gift, and hopefully you should be good.

The same thing happened to me, except they didn't call me, just email me. The only problem is that when you pay with anything other than the options in the "Personal" tab, you get charged a fee. I'm not liking this. :L.

Continuing to do it will get you limited for 180 day's. It's not nice, trust me.

Contrary to popular belief, gifts do not prevent chargebacks, which occur mostly due to unauthorised claims.

    That's the entire point...

If they charged the same fees on gifts as they do their other transactions, PayPal could care less if you use it to sell/buy goods. The only reason PayPal cares is because you're cheating them out of money which you should have paid in fees.
