Editing values in VB8?

How would you go about editing a games values?
Basically what flash-addicts call 'hacking'(Like in StickArena. I want to make a program)?

it's for C#.net but it's easy to convert between these languages. I believe it's using native API calls though.

Its memory editing. If you find out how to edit whats loaded in to memory, all you need to do is find the values (say, gold, health, etc.) and change them.
