echeck payment question

ok, I just got a buyer that send me echeck as their payment, we were planning on a claim and cancel deal, but he said that you couldn't claim back echeck on paypal. He also told me once the echeck clears through the bank, he can never get it back. It's true?

He said the only possible way to get the money is hiring a lawyer to get it back,

it's true you can never get the money back once it clear?

 

You can cancel an eCheck and it takes 5 business days to process. You can easily cancel it while it is still pending, and after i'm still pretty sure he can dispute but i'm not 100% on that.
