Depression wins the battle over those you'd least suspect, his laughter was obviously hiding a lot of pain. (deep ik, stfu)

Very unfortunate. I was planning on watching Aladdin again soon, maybe I'll watch it in his honor later.

sometimes having problem is a good purposes why you need to live in this world - to solve it.

 

As is the case with all other celebrities dying the thing that irks me is that there are all kinds of band-wagoners coming out of the woodwork that never cared for him but are suddenly distraught. Is it sad? Sure. Do I care? Not overly. RIP.

 

I heard on the radio today. So, so sad. The man was a legend.

Edit: I just don't really see how this is any different than anyone else plagued by depression. Just people going nuts cuz he was famous, lot like Paul Walker outburst of "fans" he suddenly had.

 

Things happen, people die all the time.

 

They may have never cared before but most of us grew up watching this man's movies. I may not have known he had depression nor cared about his health until now but he does have my respect, does not mean people are band wagoning

 

Because if you know of someone it is sad. If I knew of every person who died and they were all a part of my life albeit a small one I'd be sad for em all. Just dont happen to know (of) everyone who dies, lol..

 

His death doesn't affect my life and suicide doesn't help his cause. Everyone wants to find a reason to say RIP all the time..

 

He wasn't even a small part of my life. I saw maybe one movie he was in.

You guys are all assholes Robin Williams was the type of actor who could make any role his own I group watching his amazing movies his spirit will live on through the millions of people he made laugh.

As much as I feel for his family with there loss i'm really in shock that he was a depressed man.

 

I'm not sure how that makes us assholes. Are we assholes for not acknowledging the death of each person, or just this celebrity because he is popular?

 

I feel like it's just socially acceptable to mourn him and that's the only reason it's getting any attention

 

Who cares about how good he was as an actor? I mean, seriously. There are tens of thousands of people that can do what you describe.

What about famous doctors or scientists? Why does the whole world not mourn when we lose one of them? nobody seemed to bat an eyelash when that american doctor died of Ebola.

How does that make us assholes? For speaking the truth. Rofl.

I've had friends kill themselves, one literally a few hundred feet away from me in the same dormitory. Do you think the world gave a shit he died? No, because he wasn't a celebrity.

So, sorry if I speak honestly when I say his death does not impact me in any way.

Sad he faced depression, sad he's dead. Not shit we could have done about it though.

Always seems to be a double-standard when it comes to mental health...

Or even here's a better example:

A: My friend dies of a heroin dose back in January. People say he was just an addict and death was coming to him. Literally what 90 percent of people say.

B: Philip Seymour Hoffman overdoses on heroin. Everyone is devastated.

-Where is the logic here? Especially considering less than 1 percent of people 'devastated' over "B"'s death did not know him or the first thing about him...whereas A touched the lives of these people directly, and they still spoke poorly of him, even after he was dead.

While suicide is obviously different from drug related death, I'm not really seeing why it's wrong to say that Robin Williams death , along with any other celebrity in my case..does not really impact me.

We never said it wasn't sad or we are glad he's dead..just that it doesn't impact us.

Do you want us all to pretend it does? Would that be better?

I respect every single persons beliefs + if they want to mourn people they don't know that's cool, but don't call people assholes that don't think the same way as you...that's what we like to call "bigoted".

 

I agree with the sentiment that it doesn't actually matter any more or less than anyone else's death. I saw the title of the topic, and literally thought "so what?"

 

Then let people who do care, care. What's the problem?
