    External hard drive for xbox?

I recently got an xbox 360 4gb and didn't realize that to play and install GTA 5 i would need 8gb of space... So I searched around and couldn't really find a specific answer to what brand of hard drive i could use for extra storage space. I heard WD passports work best but im not sure? also if i configured it for the xbox would i only be able to use it for the xbox?
    thanks

You can use any "approved" external USB drive which is pretty much any 2.0 USB. If you bought one brand new they're all around 3.0 now so you should be fine on that front. When you configure the harddrive for your xbox you can choose to only have a certain amount set apart from the xbox so you can have whatever else you want in the other part.

    Read this link plz :)
If it doesn't work, sorry, it keeps booting me to my local language, this is the only way I can share it lol.

Basically, make sure the drive is empty, and configure how much space you want on it.
Beware, the drive might not work with your xbox, there is no way predicting whether or not a drive will work on that console.

    Good luck!

I would personally use a terabyte, depending on how many games you plan on playing but most likely it's probably your best bet. And if you configure it to the xbox you can use it for your computer or whatever.

What the hell would you use a terabyte for?

I have a 20 gb harddrive that I use in my slim xbox (you can take the casing off of the old xbox 360 harddrives and use them for the slim xbox's) and I haven't filled that. I also find that installing the games doesn't help them at all so that's wasted space too.

You'll only ever get anywhere near there if you buy all the DLC for every game you've ever played and install them all, which is redundant. The game data taken up by them is actually pretty low since xbox 360 doesn't require a game install.

I don't download dlc ever really and i have still managed to use 150gb so far, but i understand where you're coming from. Just in my personal opinion if you're a heavy gamer i would recommend using a terabyte.

    External hard drive for xbox?

I install EVERY new game I get, so that if the disc gets scratched I can play it from Hard Drive. I've got a 60 GB Harddrive and if I had more space (because I consistently delete things) I'd probably have around 100 GB used at least... I have an external HD that's a 1 TB but I only use it for Music/Movies, at least until I need to use it for Xbox.

It's safe. If you have a slim xbox 360 and want an internal harddrive without paying megabucks you can purchase an old xbox 360 harddrive (the ones that clipped onto the sides) and take all of the casing off. Inside is the harddrive that you can slip into the side of your slim.
