    Getting started (Some Questions)

Is there a thread, site or video that explains the basics of the game? I've been putting it off for quite some time because it seemed too complex (fast pace) for me, and my friends are always playing it and I'd like to join them.

    Some questions..

    1. Is there a lot to do in f2p in comparison to the payed version?

    2. Do you need a good graphics card for this game?

    3. Is the game free ranged? Is there only one aspect of the game (Matches)?

    4. Upon starting, are you matched up against other users? Or is it like runescape where there is a training aspect to the game?

    5. Last question. What are some basic terms or actions I should be aware of? Like elo etc..

I am on my phone right now and would appreciate if you guys can help me out.

    Getting started (Some Questions)

    1. Everything can be pretty much done for free, you don't have to spend anything to enjoy the game.

    2. Most computers will play it, even integrated graphics cards.

    3. Not sure what you mean, there are a few various game types.

    4. You train to level 30 but yes, basically you're just matched up with people that are your skill level.

    5. There is a sticky that covers that

As far as guides go, just play the tutorial and hop into a few games. Watch a few videos on youtube or people streaming the game if you want to learn as well.

edit: I taught my girlfriend to play who has never touched a videogame in her life, you can figure it out with a little persistence trust me. Also its a game that gets more fun the more you play it.

Thanks for the quick response. As for question 3, I meant is it like runescape where there isn't just a pking aspect. Skilling etc?

No, all that there are are the matches. There are various different game types and maps to play on, but essentially its all the same type of thing.

That is unfortunate. I guess it's good that you are sucked straight into pking. Thanks for your help, looking forward to playing later on.

i guess you could count CSing as a sort of skilling.. basically the better you do the more gold you'll have to spend.

    What is CSing?

I wanted to use that game as an example because I'm sure almost everyone familiar with LoL has played runescape before.

    CS = Creep Score

So in your lane, your objective is to last-hit (Do the final hit on each creep) to increase your CS. For each monster you kill, you get a varied amount of gold based on the creep type.

Thanks. One more question, do you keep the gold at the end of the game and what can you buy with it? Is skins an option?

At the end of each game you are awarded IP/Influence Points which you can use on Runes/Champions.

Runes are items which stay on your account which give different bonuses such as bonus attack dmg and so on

I have you added and you are not online :/

More questions.. After a few hours of downloading the game, I finally played it and it seems easy enough as the tutorial was really well done.

Should I play against bots til I reach a certain level, then go against other players? If so, what level should I get and what spells/attacks should I go for/buy?

Play vs bots until you're allowed to play vs players, then play only pvp.

Don't worry about runes or masteries right now, as far as in-game goes look up a build guide for items that you need/level order for skills.

    Getting started (Some Questions)

Okay, so I played the first game vs bots and it took forever and I thought I knew what I was doing. I'd be following the tasks and defeat minions/turrets and like 5 seconds into it, I'd be injured and have to recall over and over. I'm going to have to buy more spells, because the 3 available were ridiculous..

    Getting started (Some Questions)

    1. Is there a lot to do in f2p in comparison to the payed version?
The only more you get from payed version are cosmetics and/or stuff you can unlock for free anyways.

    2. Do you need a good graphics card for this game?
Probably? I havent played without one for a long time, on lowest settings you probably still need something decent tho.

    3. Is the game free ranged? Is there only one aspect of the game (Matches)?
There is only matches, but on alot of different maps with different objectives.

    4. Upon starting, are you matched up against other users? Or is it like runescape where there is a training aspect to the game?
You have to play vs bots untill level 3, and then you can play vs other people who are also new.

    5. Last question. What are some basic terms or actions I should be aware of? Like elo etc..
elo is for max level players (level 30) and its there rating of how good they are. MIA - for when someone leave a lane B - for backing/basing ect ect you'll pick up most of them along the way just from playing.
Goodluck and welcome to the League :)
As for spells (summoner spells) you get them as you level up, if you're getting injured quickly pick up some health potions and use them to regen while in lane, also try not to take as much damage.

    Getting started (Some Questions)

Summoner Spells are gained as you level. Honestly if you just google "LoL Wiki" the wiki site offers a pretty decent amount of knowledge for new players. Trust me, the only way to learn/improve is to just keep playing the game. You can watch well-known streamers on Twitch as they usually offer tips or you can just take in their play-style. But since you're just beginning the game the most important thing is to just have fun. It'll take a while to get the gist of LoL.

    Getting started (Some Questions)

Keep playing vs bots. These questions will be answered the more you play. To answer your question, only attack the turret if you have a pretty decent creep wave of your own behind you to tank the shots. Don't ever tank the shots trying to kill the turret, you'll die fast.
What do you mean by spells lol, like QWER? If so those are the only 4 skills you get the entire game. Ranking each one higher makes it stronger. You can only rank it each time you level up, and R can only be leveled up at 6/11/16.

The games last 30-45 min usually. My first few bot games took 1 hour lol so don't worry about the length.

Also, after you learn the basics (i'd say around a week or 2 tbh) watch some youtube/streams (http://www.twitch.tv/directory/game/League of Legends)

A few easy champs to use are Master Yi(he's a bit mana hungry if you spam his q but he's easier than most champs) Garen or Ashe. I think they're all free now if you're a beginner.

I'm not the best at the game like others (sellerman for example) but i can help you if you're a beginner.
