Try to do it at night, turn your modem off to the computer and lay in your bed with the books.

Do it bit by bit, doing it in big chuncks won't help

I've considered myself a bad procrastinater and I've recently broken that habit! When it comes to procrastinating you have to realize that you'll eventually have to do the work, and if you wait till the end then you're only hurting yourself. There's nothing else to it other then doing it.

Also, set a schedule. Split up the work into what you will do each day, and then set small goals like say each hour.

I can understand lazyness. As someone who suffers from depression, your procrastinating lvl is actually 104m and lvl 120.

The only thing I could really say that may help is the only thing to do is actually force yourself. Only really you can do this. It's funny how everyone knows the answer to other peoples problems, yet when they have their own, they are helpless.

procrastination is an illness. hah, it's a drag for sure.

People who try to do large chunks at a time and suffer from procrastination like it's a profession, NEVER get it done..

I'm a huge procrastinator but try to do little bits throughout the day, some here some there.. just space it out with enough time to get it down.

to much work is overwhelming and if it looks to much then your mind will tell you "why the hell even bother". so just do it piece by piece and take your time..

on the essay party try listening to music while you do it.. keeps me motivated. not facebook or twitter, or SYTHE ;)

Goodluck my friend, I have the same issue atm. Reading a 600 page book. 50 vocab words. 20 journal entries. and 25 biblical allusions. GF.

If you're trying to read a book, I'd suggest going to the library if you find yourself on the computer all of a sudden. Yeah some libraries have those, but you could go to a quiet section surrounded by nothing but books and then you will have nothing but them to read.

I find when Im not distracted by electronics like my laptop or tv, I am actually going to have some reading done. Where as if the tv is near, oh it will suddenly be turned on, and hours will pass without anything being read.

if i'm reading a book, listening to music is not what i do. but essay's i do turn on Pandora and i don't have it cranked up but do have it so i can hear it.. I got done in nearly 3 years all because i eliminated the obstructions and music helped a lot to keep me focused and not as bored

Everyone is different. Some people can have 10 things running around them and they can still focus on reading or a task they are doing. Some people cannot, they need ABSOLUTE silince otherwise they will just get distracted. Then there are those with ADD/ADHD but that's a whole other subject.
