I tried it a while back but didn't like it. Really it's like a very un-populated version of wow with many great features missing.

Are you kidding me, lotro is nothing like wow. Lotro is actually a decent game. If you like PVE stuff and questing it's not a bad game.

I put a lot of time in LOTRO a while back, I got to around level 53 on a Guardian when the max level was 60. It's a great game with a solid PvE setup as opposed to a PvP setup many other titles feature. The only downside as previously mentioned is population. The rest of it was fun as all hell my friends and I would put in a lot of time doing the deeds etc. that were part of the game. It depends on what kind of MMO you favor honestly. There is a pvp element though, it's unique.

I personally like LOTRO more than WoW, all the aspects seem to work better, except PKing is pretty much just a space filler.

The Story and lore of LOTRO is alot more interesting and entertaining, to me at least. Simply because the lore is based off the books.

PvE is very fun, theres a broad enough variety of areas and NPCs that nothing ever feels old. The instances are fun to run, and the end game raids can be very fun, or very frustrating depending on your raid makeup or how well your players know their classes.

LOTRO has kinships which is the guild system, as well as a housing system (player houses and kin houses).

Now that its a F2P game the population has really grown a ton, and the fairly new skirmish system is a fun and quick way of gaining decent XP and fairly good gear until 55+ when instances and raids provide the best.

Legendary weapons and class items are a really good feature, item XP is gained while you use the item, you can raise the DPS on weapons or improve set legacies you identify on them, some help healing, some help damage, its all random.

I have a 65 Guardian (tank) which Ive played forever, and a 65 Champion (dual-wield DPS), as well as a 50ish Rune-Keeper (Magic DPS/Heal). the only boring parts i can actual complain about is from about lv 35-45 seems to go very slowly, but i didnt use skirmishs to level i quested.

Pffffffffft! Wow pwns the shit outa lotr; wow does have an ordinary storyline but is such great gameplay! Wow guild systems involve leveling as a guild which is much more interactive. The ammount of levels; wepons; armor; exploration; mounts in wow is giant!

the only down side is the 15 bucks a month but if u want to splurg; go for it! it rox!

LOTRO has guild levels. the Areas in LOTRO look better than WOW in my opinion. The weapons and armor look way to over the top in WOW as well, I like how all the armors and weapons actually look believable, that goes alone with the lore and story that goes along with LOTRO.

Think I wish LOTRO had was a wider variety of Mounts, but that goes alone with the Lore also.

+ Ive noticed there arent as many children on LOTRO, which makes it alot less stressful.

It's something I wanted to try out because I knew a guy who played it, but never got round to it. Still, may try it when I get a new laptop.

Hmm, I got a free trial of it years ago and never used it. Now it's f2p maybe I'll give it a go.

Couldnt get into this. I kept comparing it to WoW, so it just didnt create any spark for me. Kind of a waste of 10gbs tbh.

I saw it advertised, it looks quite good but i keep thinking it just looks like another game out of the 1000 already similar to things like WoW, GW and RS.
