Reporting Scammers

TLDR:
I WARN ABOUT THE SCAM OF PURCHASING AN ACCOUNT WHERE EVERYTHING'S DANDY FOR WEEKS AND THEN IS REPOSSESSED. DO NOT PURCHASE AN ACCOUNT FROM ANYONE SHORT OF FULLY ENDORSED, WITH TENURED HISTORY AND THOUSANDS OF POSTS. MY $500 WON'T CHANGE THE SCAMMER'S DUMB, DUMB LIFE BUT IT'S A SAD INCONVENIENCE FOR THOSE OF US WITH INTEGRITY. LONG LIVE SYTHE.


Unfortunately I was badly scammed by user "Commendable" for an account with login [email protected]

I returned to RS after the old days as a way to take some stress out of my life, had a very friendly-seeming transaction with "Commendable" who was not a tenured Sythe user but was selling various accounts and I believe had some good feedback. He transferred ownership to my email address without my even knowing that was a thing, and "provided" original account password and info.

Almost exactly one month after purchasing the account for $200 and loading it with around 350m GP and months of membership, it ceased to exist under my email and I heard crickets from him. He's Canadian and would not divulge much else for personal info, even though I did so myself in good faith.

Immediately after I returned to Sythe to contact him, the account "Brawlah" sent me a message asking if I wanted to buy his or her main account (after months of inactivity on my end). Cannot be a coincidence.

I do not have much to deal as recourse but at least have the satisfaction of knowing-- even though you squeezed a few hundred dollars from me-- that I lead a much more ornate and interesting life than you ever will. Acting in trust and good faith is wasted on the penurious scumbags of the internet. I wanted to use a forum that I respected and still respect to reinvigorate a passion I once had and relieve some stress of daily life. Unfortunately a desperate rat stole 20 minutes from my day while I stressed about what exactly happened.

Hopefully the powers that be can see an IP from this loser or something but either way:

I may possibly do that in the coming days but this was honestly all the energy I have to deter buyers from this guy. I just wanted an account and some GP to get started. I felt indignant enough to pen a post.

I ain't getting any of it back.

Putting time into this account is a bad regret I'm unwilling to draw out. Take it down if you'd like, but this is a scumbag scammer and I hope no other good Sythe community members contribute to the paltry $2,000 he hopes to net this year behind his computer screen.

To answer your concern directly, all our communications were on Sythe private message. Account was recovered and the name changed which I confirmed with Jagex. The immediate PM from another account seller out of the clouds was all the evidence, if circumstantial, that I needed. That's all I really have to say on the matter, you're welcome to call or email me but I'm done with everything else. I had an instinct to warn others and that's that.

 

To be fair and clear, I have no concrete evidence against @Brawlah -- although his thread has a scammer warning -- it just adds up to be the same cohort.

@commendable -- turns out it's easier than I thought to find you so you'll receive a letter in the mail from me by February
