Dubstep - I just want to clarify for those who may not know.

Hi there sythe Dubstep lovers. I have noticed a few threads about Dubstep and just wanted to clarify for those who think Dubstep is subscribing to UKF. There are also a few Dubstep threads that contain only mainstream and brostep songs.

    So what is Brostep?
Well, Brostep was a word used by Kozee as a joke. It focuses mainly on the mid range wobble style music rather than the low frequency and 140bpm tempo of dubstep. It evolved out of dubstep encorporating the 'jump-up' style vibe of Drum and Bass. Brostep also has a slight amount of metal influence too. Most people categorize Dubstep and Brostep as the same thing, including a lot of record labels. Examples of Brostep artists would be: Datsik and Borgore. Borgore and Tomba were both in the same metal band, with Borgore as the drummer and Tomba as the guitarist.

So where did the wobble come into Dubstep?
The wobble was used firstly as a joke by Coki. The track was called spongebob, and incorporated both the wobble and a low frequency. However since then, the wobble has taken off with all brostep artists using it. The track was later name-changed to Pussy Drip

    So what is Dubstep then?
Dubstep, as the name suggests, was derived from a range of genres. Reggae/Dub, Two-step and Garage music. Benga defined it as music with a sub bass of 140bpm, however Kode9 stated that it has a large bassline, with anything on the top of it. It was mainly an underground genre until it hit the youtube phenomenon, which caused it to evolve and become what it is today. The same occured with Drum and Bass, but not to the same extent.

I hope this has clarified a few things for you or has given you some more knowledge about the genre.

The point im trying to get across is that the dubstep everyone hears today like datsik etc isn't actually dubstep at all.
