    It's a superconductor which is cooled to a very low temperature so that it will induce a magnetic field that will form an invisible magnet between the magnet at the bottom and the superconducting metal so that they will repel and the superconductor will be suspending in air as long as it remains at a low temperature.

    Probably the coolest thing I've ever seen. I absolutely love little scientific discoveries like this, no matter how pointless it seems to be. It's the little things in nature and science that astounds me.
