Official Dragon Ball Super Thread [Spoilers Included]

Yeah...cause in his timeline, none of them ar alive, and goku died to cell, no SS god etc. Pre silly lol. They should have kept him in the same timeline, with all normal memories, i.e, kid trunks is alive atm and knows the rest are, has seen godmode etc, the universe tourny etc, so his old future self would obv also remb and have that knowledge...as its himself.

 

Gonna start watching this as I remember watching a few episodes when I was younger. Should I start with Dragon ball super or would there be something better to start on?

 

I started with dbz. Sorta want to see the original db as well sometime.

Additionally you could start by watching dragonball kai as that is pretty much an optimized version of dbz

 

Started watching dragon ball z. Am about 40 episodes in and enjoying it. Haven't seen a "super saiyan" yet but overall its great. If this new dragon ball super is anything like this I'm sure it'll be good to watch.

 

Last few episodes have been solid.

 

So basically an alternate timeline? I guess it's the only way for the show to be progressively longer. I'm not complaining though, I'm enjoying this arc.

If you watched the Dragon Ball Z series, you should remember that Goku died to a disease before meeting the Androids. Future Trunks didn't know about Cell until coming to the past. In his timeline, the two Androids were the strongest. Trunks went to the past to meet Goku and save him by giving him a cure.

Future Belma and Trunks believed that Goku would save them if he had not died of that disease, and they had the technology in the future to solve it.

In this series, time is a warped web that has an infinite amount of possibilities. They are re-introducing the Trunks from the same timeline that came back to give Goku the cure. In this Future Trunk's timeline, most of the Z-Force is already dead. Gohan, his mentor, was the last to die before Trunks came to the past. Keep in mind; this is one timeline out of infinity. They keep it "pure" by re-using the one specific timeline that contained Trunks coming back in time several years ago, during the Android Saga.

When Future Trunks finished the Cell Saga, he went back to his specific timeline in the massive time web. He had the power to stop Cell and the Androids of killing everyone on earth, due to training with the Z-Force to fight against Cell. Aka, he went into the hyperbolic time chamber with Vegeta to become stronger. At this point, I believe he was able to kill the Androids and Cell in his particular timeline, but decided to stay until the arch finished and returned to his true string of time.

In Dragon Ball Super, they are trying to bring a return of that same Trunks from a different line of existence. In that Trunk's life, he beat the Androids and then beat Bobiti before Majin Boo was released. Trunks was probably not near the strength of Majin Boo, and that existence would have ended if Boo was released.

This means Future Trunks is weaker than even Gotenks. Unless he continued to train and learned how to control higher levels of Super Saiyan, but he was surprised about Super Saiyan 3, so I doubt it.

The mystery of this arc is Black Goku. In Trunk's timeline, Goku died of a disease and the rest of the Z-Force was left dead. Future Trunks is the only living fighter left beside the three misfits with guns that don't hurt anything. He is the only realistic fighter in his timeline that can protect the earth. Knowing that he cannot beat Black Goku, he went back to the same timeline string that he entered in HIS past.

This is a little complicated, I know, but imagine timeline strings as different dimensions. Future Trunks was from the future of a specific timeline; he went back in time to create a completely new dimension. Therefore, he is no longer "Future Trunks", but a Trunks from an entirely different dimension. The new "Future Trunks" would be if our current dimension's Trunks came back from that dimensions future, then creating an entirely new dimension again. Every time someone comes back in time, they create a new dimension or timeline string.

That is why not even the gods are not supposed to mess around with time, especially not a God of Destruction like Beerus. He would be creating a whole new dimension when he is supposed to be the God of Destruction.

My response is saying, that this different dimension Trunks has zero knowledge about this kid Trunks has. The dimensional Trunks doesn't even know how to fuse, and never met Majin Boo or grew up with all of the stories we are aware of in our dimensional focus. We focus on one particular timeline string, or dimension, whatever word you want to use for it.

The arc is a little confusing, but it all makes sense to a certain extent. In reality, most of this is unproven bullshit that is only within a story. Humans have zero understanding of the real timeline nor how to manipulate it, if it can even be manipulated. But the writer of Dragon Ball Z/Super creates a theory and applies it to the writing.

 

No, I understand that all, and have watched all of DBZ. I'm saying, it's dumb as fuck that they brought future trunks from a 'different future'. Would have been far better if it was within the same timeline.

 

Yeah, it might have been better with a Trunks from the same timeline. I believe that it was easier to integrate the same Trunks for fans to relate to a bit more. To use a completely new Future Trunks might confuse a lot of people. I would also decide that Trunks is the ultimate survivor!

 

So, I read an article which states that Toriyama basically says that the future timelines are part of a multiverse. Think of The Flash.

So, when future trunks went back in time in DBZ, he saved that universes timeline, but his own remained unchanged (goku dies, what not). Not that it's a big deal, but yea.

Really enjoying Dragon Ball Super so far. What I'm wondering though is how they will add new transformations. My theory is that they might just reuse the transformations from DBZ so we might see super saiyan 2 god soon

edit: if anyone transforms into a super saiyan 2 god it will probably be vegeta first

I was so sad when bulma laid out clothes for trunks and it was not a pink shirt.

That would have made my entire life

Those multipliers mean Mystic Gohan was at least four times stronger than Goku at the end of the Boo saga. That's my conclusion because, in his base form, he was much stronger than Super Saiyan 3 Goku. If he went Super Saiyan 3, he would have been at least 16 times stronger.

 

Not getting my hopes up but I'll take a look when it's out. Half the appeal, for me at least, was when I was a kid and seeing these crazy powerful characters just wrecking each other. Not sure I'd have the patience for the 3 episode stare downs and all that anymore.

 

Pretty good ep. Kaoshin looks like an interesting character.

Gohan used to be the strongest fighter in the universe in the cell/buu sagas but he became weak after he stopped training. I wonder if he will make a comeback and surpass goku/vegeta again

 

Same here. It's more than just fighting, the whole kaioshin, black and zen god storyline is interesting.
