Dont know how to help him?

One of my friends I met this semester just withdrew due to him being depressed and he started cutting himself. I had no clue he was even depressed, let alone cutting. He's just one of the people I would always hang out with and party on the weekend since he's a junior and had a suite I liked to party at. Me and my roommate are both friends with him so we're kind of thrown off by it.

Is there anything i could do / should do to try to help him? We're not as good friends as I'd like, but I still want to help.

 

Tell him to stop but dont make him feel too weird about it

 

Telling him to stop would likely not do anything. You really need to find out why he cuts, and to figure that out you really need to try to get to know the guy better.

 

Yeah understand him better and clues will lead to why he does it
