    Botting Ethics

IMO, we should follow some ethics/ettiquete for botting. If we're all selfish and care only about ourselves, it'll end up affecting us in the long run, whereas if we follow some minor ethics, it'll make the runescape community better for everyone.

Here's what I think you should freely bot:
    - Crafting
    - Fletching
    - Construction
    - Herblore
    - Firemaking

Here's what I don't think you should bot:
    - Woodcutting
    - Mining
    - Combat skills
    - Hunter

The reason is, it makes the game boring and not fun if you see bots everywhere you go. The skills I've listed above are things you can pretty much do inside a bank or in your poh, in isolation, with no one else effected, but if you bot the other skills you are either 1) Taking real player's resources, or 2) Making the game not fun by putting so many bots out in the real world.

Plus if the resource gathering isn't done so much by bots, it will make the prices a lot higher and make the game more easier to play, which is what the point of botting is..

Lastly, don't sell GP made from botting. You're getting real money for something that has a high chance of getting the buyer of the gp banned, in which case his money that he gave you is wasted. That's not different from scamming/rippping people off/selling defective stuff for the price of non defective stuff.

Discuss, suggest more botting ethics, and keep flaming to a minimum :p

When someone buys gp, I'm pretty sure they know the risks of RWT trading. From that selling to someone that knows the consequences isn't scamming/ripping.

This is why people bot, to farm gold and get money that is actually useful in real life. This is done through said resource gathering skills that are competitive.

    The game is boring.
No one directly effected, more people are indirectly effected.
It's a game, these resources are infinite.
    It's a game.

You are only evaluating one side:
Let's say botting gets eradicated, and prices double.
How is this helping you make the game easier?
    Eg.
Lets say I could mine 1000 Iron ore in 1 hour, and sell it for 200k.
Now It's worth double so I can now sell it for 400k. Yay.

    Problem.
Before I could buy 1000 lobbies for 200k.
Now It's worth double so I can buy it for 400k.

WDF? It makes no difference whatsoever, it just hyper inflates prices creating an enormous demand with little supply.

    This also would not work.

If everyone stopped selling there gold, then the demand for gold would rise exponentially. It would rise to the point where it would be $5/m.
Eventually people will say fk this I wana make some money, and start selling their gold. Everyone will follow on and say hey wth? And then the prices will slowly come down and people will spend more money for less gold with the same risk of getting banned.

There is absolutely no incentive for me to stop botting. If I stop botting, there is no guarantee that others will not continue to use bots and therefore, prevent a price increase. In the end, I just end up with fewer commodities and the botters continue to do well. However, if I bot I will maintain a higher profit with the unfortunate effect of flooding the market and thus lowering prices. This outcome is the least harmful and most realistic, therefore it is my only option. I bot to make money.
