A Debate from the Past 30 Minutes or so

This debate was between me and some random Christian in a Yahoo chat room. There were others talking about things irrelevant to the argument, so they have been deleted from the log. All things said by me (biblebeltatheist) or him (jamesfrancis1253) have not been edited. This whole debate is actually quite funny. If you didn't assume it already, since it was in a chat room, the response only went as fast as we could type them, so you will have to infer which response were made to which statements. Sorry for the bad setting, but I didn't plan on it happening. Also excuse my worse-than-usual grammar, it was in a chat room and I was going for speed, and thus grammar fell to the wayside somewhat.

jamesfrancis1253God may or may not exist
jamesfrancis1253: You can't say he does not exist
jamesfrancis1253: And you can't say he does for sure
jamesfrancis1253: You can argue about it like people have been doing for thousands of years but you won't get a definitive answer
jamesfrancis1253: But what have you got to loose by living life as a civilized human?
biblebeltatheist: you cant truly know that he doesn't exist
biblebeltatheist: but you cant truly know that lawn gnomes dont rape pink flamingos either
jamesfrancis1253: God gave Adam and Eve all they needed in the Garden of Eden
biblebeltatheist: but both situations are so improbable that i choose to live based on the assumption that they arent true
jamesfrancis1253: biblebelt, that is one extreme of the argument, the other extreme would be that reality doesn't simply blip into existence
biblebeltatheist: but we dont know that there was ever a nonexistence
jamesfrancis1253: biblebel, you seem to be having a metaphysical crisis of some sort
jamesfrancis1253: would you feel comfortable sharing this with me?
biblebeltatheist: could you be more specific on the metaphysical crisis?
jamesfrancis1253: why are things are biblebel, because they are?
    biblebeltatheist: apparently
jamesfrancis1253: it seems like your mind gets caught in these little loopholes
biblebeltatheist: that all end in the fact we dont know for sure
jamesfrancis1253: biblebel, how do you know you're not in a tank living in the year 2300 as a powercell for a machine?
    jamesfrancis1253: you don't
jamesfrancis1253: what you need to do is search your HEART and SOUL
biblebeltatheist: no, but based on the observations I've made, I can come to the logical conclusion that im not
biblebeltatheist: you dont need to be 100% sure about something to know that it isnt true
    jamesfrancis1253: biblebelt actually you DO
biblebeltatheist: not for all practical situations
jamesfrancis1253: lets say you're 90% sure about one thing, and 99% sure about something else, and 98% sure about something else
biblebeltatheist: we don't know that lawn gnomes dont rape pink flamingos for sure 100%, but do we need to to know that it doesnt happen?
jamesfrancis1253: biblebelt we're talking about the creator not lawn gnomes
biblebeltatheist: but the same principle applies
jamesfrancis1253: do you think the universe has always been?
biblebeltatheist: I think it could have always been
jamesfrancis1253: biblebel this is a yes or no question
biblebeltatheist: i cant give a yes or no answer to it unless i know
biblebeltatheist: and i dont, and am willing to admit it
biblebeltatheist: based on the evidence ive seen, i think its possible
jamesfrancis1253: biblebel so if the universe never existed in the past are you to say it just appeared
biblebeltatheist: I honestly don't think there was a time when there was nothing
biblebeltatheist: because if there was nothing then, there wouldn't be anything now
jamesfrancis1253: hm, i c, unless there was God
biblebeltatheist: true but what created God?
jamesfrancis1253: God is a manifestation of the highest plane of reality
jamesfrancis1253: i.e. he was always been
biblebeltatheist: if you can believe that a god has existed forever, then can you not believe that everything has?
jamesfrancis1253: yes well we can either believe in an eternal God or an eternal universe bouncing around
biblebeltatheist: but its not a 50/50 chance on being equal
    jamesfrancis1253: yes it is bible
    biblebeltatheist: not at all
jamesfrancis1253: we do not know if our universe came into being at some point
jamesfrancis1253: biblebel we really couldn't even begin to guess
jamesfrancis1253: such things are matters of faith
biblebeltatheist: there is much more of a chance of there being no god, than any theistic god
biblebeltatheist: if you want to get into deism, then you have an argument
biblebeltatheist: but a deistic god bears no meaning to my life
jamesfrancis1253: biblebel how did you arrive at these figures? i.e. metaphysical belief "a" being more likely than metaphysical believe "b"
    jamesfrancis1253: ?
biblebeltatheist: take a look around you
biblebeltatheist: do you see the happenings in the world?
    jamesfrancis1253: *peers around
biblebeltatheist: do you see any intervetion of any kind of God?
    jamesfrancis1253: yes i do bible
    biblebeltatheist: what might that be?
jamesfrancis1253: forces of light and darkness battle each other all the time
    jamesfrancis1253: good and evil
biblebeltatheist: good and evil are just morality
    biblebeltatheist: its all relativ
biblebeltatheist: I'm talking about true evidence
jamesfrancis1253: biblebel are you a serial killer?
    biblebeltatheist: no
jamesfrancis1253: well then search your soul my son
jamesfrancis1253: remember the teachings of the Bible
biblebeltatheist: the morals i have developed are in no way due to the bible
jamesfrancis1253: how God gave Adam and Eve an Earth to tend to
jamesfrancis1253: and how they ate from the tree of knowledge
biblebeltatheist: murder being taboo resulted from humans needing to survive together
    jamesfrancis1253: and paradise lost
biblebeltatheist: murder would compromise that, and thus it was made as "bad"
jamesfrancis1253: bible do you kill people in your spare time?
biblebeltatheist: /me looks to the previous question about the matter
biblebeltatheist: gah it doesnt work in chat
    biblebeltatheist: but no i dont
    jamesfrancis1253: why not?
biblebeltatheist: because i have no reason to
jamesfrancis1253: how would you feel if you killed someone biblebel?
biblebeltatheist: it would depend on if it was by accident or by intent
jamesfrancis1253: if you just killed some random person who pissed you off
    biblebeltatheist: satisfied
jamesfrancis1253: it seems to me that you have an illness of the mind
jamesfrancis1253: the devil is tricking you
biblebeltatheist: i would feel the same way as i would by doing anything else that i wanted to do
biblebeltatheist: if i want to jump off of a rock
    biblebeltatheist: and i did
    biblebeltatheist: i would feel satisfied
jamesfrancis1253: so you would feel satisfied of you killed someone you wanted to kill
biblebeltatheist: because the dopamine levels in my brain would increase because i had accomplished a goal i set
jamesfrancis1253: you are a lost soul biblebel
jamesfrancis1253: if you can not live life as a human then you will burn in hell
    biblebeltatheist: terroristic much?
jamesfrancis1253: and the Holy Bible is the guidebook on how to live life as a human
    biblebeltatheist: i admit
biblebeltatheist: the moral teachings are good
    biblebeltatheist: i.e.love one another
biblebeltatheist: but the theological ones are just myth
jamesfrancis1253: yes, because if you can't live life as a man or woman and tend to God's Earth why are you here?
    jamesfrancis1253: to kill people?
    jamesfrancis1253: to burn down things?
    biblebeltatheist: we are here
biblebeltatheist: because things turned out this way
jamesfrancis1253: satan lives in your mind
biblebeltatheist: there isnt any meaning to life
jamesfrancis1253: you are in a crises of the mind
biblebeltatheist: when you realize this fact you wont need to invent a god
biblebeltatheist: i think you're just backed into a corner and cant find anything else to support you

This was a Yahoo Religion chat room designed for it, although most people in there weren't debate, or they were bots.

I will try there, it looks promising, but I will stay here always. I come to sythe for much more than debate.

He was immature? While dpunk constantly brings up his "garden gnomes could be raping pink flamingos" relation.
Which makes no sense, btw... unless you're trying to disprove science... considering that garden gnomes and pink flamingos are objects of this dimension that we can see and test. What more do you need to reach a scientific conclusion?
God is quite a different being, bud.

And of course he has no way of backing anything up with science! Science is an ill-equipped methodology... too limited for this discussion.

Anyhow, the entirety of the chat was boring. Nothing was brought up that I haven't already heard, and no one stumped anyone on any points. But there's not much more to expect... that is why the debate has been going for so long.

Lol, I use the garden gnome relation quite often to illustrate to people that just because you can't disprove something, it doesn't mean that it's true. I get sick and tired of people saying over and over again, "You can't disprove God! Na na na na boo boo!", so I use this explanation to get it through there heads that the concept of a God isn't special in terms of not being able to disprove it. You're right that nothing new was brought up, but that wasn't the point. I get into debates like these because I enjoy them, and it's an issue that a great majority of people have a standpoint on.

I love debates like that. Some religious person tries to explain their beliefs and how "The Bible is right because the Bible says it is right". Ever tried to debate against a Mormon? That is entertaining.
