Nintendo's market value doubles and net worth passes Sony in only 2 weeks. Thoughts?

"On Tuesday, Nintendo shares finished trading another 14% higher, meaning they have doubled in value since the launch of Pokemon Go on 6 July.

This puts Nintendo's overall market value at 4.36tn yen ($38bn; £28.8bn), topping Sony by 300bn yen."

 

Rallied about 90%. Unfortunately traded on the Japanese market so we couldn't use it during the Sythe paper trading competition

I'd like to see how well they do on micro-transactions and see if they can maintain user growth in the west and Europe.

Would be cool if you posted this in the finance section as well. You'd probably get more economic insight there

 

I have a feeling it will only be short-lived. There's a lot of hype around the game, but will it last 2 ,5 ,10 years?

 

Yea, i have the same feeling.

 

I give it a maximum of about 2 years. Once they release a few generations and people get bored it'll die. But it's great to see a game get this much hype. I've seen grandparents actually enjoy gaming with their grandkids for the first time ever

 

No games are meant to last forever, same goes for consoles. Nintendo knows this and likely already has somebody working on the next thing. So I don't see this game phasing out completely correcting their market price and value. This game just forever made Nintendo a more valuable company

So yes, it won't last forever or as long as some other franchises, but it will make Nintendo much more valuable for much longer, justifying their rally (although I think 90% was a bit of an exaggeration)

 

it seems unprofessional that they leave a ton of bugs in the game without fixing it though, considering theyre doing this well

 

well im sure there having people work on the game n what not, but so far its caused so much hype i wouldnt be surprised if it took a little longer then expected to fix the game to a fully more stable version, a co worker off mine said that they will update or release an update after comic con
