I really have lost all sympathy for the many 'new' users that are getting scammed here, especially when buying gold. As I am sure you are all aware, there are regular brand new accounts claiming to sell gold here almost daily, and they are mainly all looking to scam. The amount of times I see people posting on the threads with things like: He tried to scam me blah blah blah, and even with print screen proof. People still try and buy from them! And some people even still go first to them! I simply do not understand why. They must have just seen proof they are scammers and yet they continue to trade and then get annoyed when they get scammed.

Aswell, so many people seem to not be documenting their trades correctly. Therefore they do not have the proof in scam reports to get them banned, and this basically ends up with them getting banned which in turn leads to more people getting scammed. It just seems to start a chain reaction.
When I have the time I am going to write a guide about how to document trades correctly and what screen shots are needed. But im fairly busy at the moment so if someone beats me to it, go ahead. I want a guide out there regardless who it's by just to stop this happenning. I was new, im still pretty new but i've never been stupid enough to go first to someone I don't trust or get scammed straight up, so why should anyone else.

Reply with your opinions on why people get scammed, and why they ignore complete warnings. And if you think the guide would actually be read and would be helpful to users.

There are guides, they probably do get read by new users, and no it's not surprising. It's mainly the new people getting scammed though, poor fellas.

New users (I consider myself new aswell) hopefully come to this site to sell and buy and the impression these scammers give this site is terrible.

Firstly, I don't think that there's a valid reason to rant about something like this on the public forums, talking about how new users who get scammed "sicken you". Be constructive with your feedback. If you are bothered, find ways to help fix the problems because although stupid mistakes are being made, they are still losing what they worked hard for.

I like the idea on how to document a trade. I might take you up on writing that, if you're too busy :)

I feel too many get scammed, but, than again... You stated that after proof is shown, they're STILL going first. I'm putting this on their stupidity, not Sythe's bad moderation.

Yeah I do not blame Sythe in any way, it really is just some users arrogance, I think the documentation guide will just help to clear up the community as it is also not a rare site that scam reports are posted with just copy and pasted chat logs or them saying I have no proof, but he did scam me.

I do think it's valid. I do feel sorry that those who come here and try and trade safely, but just don't know all the ropes yet get scammed. It's just wrong. Im talking in particular about those who are given evidence that the sellers scam and still trade with them and then get scammed.

And my idea on fixing it is making sure there is an up to date guide out on how to document scams, there are many guides which tell how to spot scammers so im not going to write one of them, but getting the scammer banned is also a big part to save more members from being scammed. But those who continue to trade with clear scammers are beyond help in my opinion. Recently I saw someone post a gold buying thread where the OP was actually just banned, and they were posting saying they would go first.

Maybe when signing up they should make it necessary to read the guides and accept them? Maybe this would help.

if you fall for a gold scam then your an idiot. Are you seriously going to give your gold or hard earned IRL $$ to some guy you don't even know in real life? Especially when that guy has no or very little vouches or reputation on this site to back his trustworthy claims up.

I'm new here but I've been around the block a few times and have traded on several sites before. I know when things are getting suspicious and when it's not. I've gotten several offers since I'm buying NPs with USD but have only actually went through with four since most people seem to be trying to take advantage of the fact that I am a newbie.

People get scammed because they don't know safe trading. If more people used MM, paid with a payment method other than PayPal then we may see less scam reports.

GP/Account trades for PayPal trades should be held over PlayerAuctions to avoid getting scammed.

RSGP trades should be done while using a TRUSTED MM.

That can be the solution to avoid these scam reports. But usually people cba using MM. Hence, they get scammed.

I also find it sad how many new comers try getting ranks like Forum Addict or Active Members that post a lot of random stuff to see that they've been in sythe for a long time :S

A lot of people start trading and don't think to screenshot everything, myself included. Some people aren't super paranoid or have been exposed to too many scammers in their life. I still don't screenshot every single fram of every trade I do, I should, but I don't. But when I started out and for newer members nobody even thinks about that. And when they do get scammed, they find out chatlogged screenshots don't even work and the scammer gets off scot free, and that in turn turns away many potentials for the website.

As bad as it sounds getting scammed does teach you a lesson. I'm pretty sure even all the big marketeers got scammed on their first go while trading in Sythe. It's the new member's responsibility to educate himself in the market before trading in my opinion. There's quite a few guides on how to trade in the market and also researching is key as well. There is also quite a few users who I know would be glad to help out if you shot them a PM or added their messenger.

I was scammed when I first came. It's after they've been scammed that you see whether they will be a committed user or not - if they just chin up, and carry on, then that means they'll probably be around for a while. Otherwise, they tend to just drift away, after making a few posts about how awful Sythe is.

vB4 will bring us features such as being able to force people to read threads before being able to do anything else, if that can help stop scamming, then Im up for it. Its just new users need to be aware of how bad scams can be on this site and not to trust every tom, dick and harry.

    hehe dick...

But seriously, I don't find it surprising. Most of the scams though are because people are too stupid to practice safe trading, which includes asking for PM's, taking screenshots (which scammers take advantage of), and using middlemen.
