Homophobic people

These are my simple thoughts on homophobic people..

As you know, homophobic people fear homosexual people.

I think it is deeper than that. I think the reality is that homophobes don't FEAR gay people, but they FEAR becoming gay. This could be because of parental influence, or because they are bi-curious themselves.

So my conclusion is that, even though ALL phobias are irrational fears, homophobia is an irrational phobia. It is only used as a justification to others, and to a person for their homosexual thoughts.

 

Very true, because most of the homophobic people that i know, (not saying all) are religious people, who practice there religion wherever they go. So yes, i would have to agree.

 

Homophobia describes hostility or fear of gay people and homosexuality, but it is not limited to this specifically.
For example someone might be called homophobic if they dislike gay people; or if someone is violent towards a gay person they could also be described as homophobic.

You don't have to be scared of homosexual people to be homophobic.

 

I understand this, but what I am saying is that those violent or fearful actions are out of fear of becoming them.

For example, if you don't like a person, you act negatively toward them. It's the same thing. If you don't like gay people, or don't want to become them, you will act negatively toward them.

 

nope. Im homophopic. And the reason i "fear" them is not that i fear becomming gay myself, its because i feel awkward in their presence. I cant help it but thats the fact. Its really hard to explain, sorry.

No, you have no justification for fearing them. It's not hard to explain, you're either homophobic for two reasons; 1) You fear becoming one 2) You think you will be looked as somebody who supports them if you aren't "scared" of them. There is a fine line between hating and fearing them, and not supporting what they do. Feeling 'awkward' isn't a phobia, either. You're not homophobic just because you don't like being around them. I'm not arachnophobic, but do I like spiders crawling on me? - of course not.

Phobias are an actual FEAR of something, not just "feeling awkward" around them. If you get sweaty palms, feel light headed, or feel a sense of panic around homosexuals - you may be homophobic.

 

Just because you do not like someone and act negatively towards them does not make you afraid of them/becoming like them.

And if I did not like a person for being homosexual, doesn't mean I have to act negatively towards them, I just wouldn't have to be friends.

 

Yes, but give me a reason even close to rational why you fear homosexuals.

It's not like they are going to rape you. They are probably cleaner than you.

 

People have a "fear" as you like to call it, of homosexuals for the same reason that someone else is afraid of the dark, it unnerves them.

 

It's true sometimes, but the thing is, if someone doesn't like gays, they are automatically categorized as a Homophobic. Half the people don't even look at the real meaning, just say they are because they don't like gays.

 

I don't like gay people because it's disgusting. I don't want any homosexuals hitting on my n shit.

 

It's natural to fear things that you don't understand. And I sure as hell don't understand homosexuality. It's disgusting.

Im not a homophobia, I just plain out hate them... Dont really care what anyone say's its wrong to be gay and if your gay I believe you should live with consequences. I believe that if you choose to become gay then you should have all your rights as a person be taken away, just my opinion and everyone is entitled to their own opinion. I respect's everyone's opinion towards gay's but mine is that it's wrong for two men, or two women to take their hand's in marriage, and then think they deserve to adopt a child.

 

I do respect your opinion but i need to know. What is it that makes you think they do not deserve a child?

Here, ill help you, think about it like this, it isnt the fact that they dont DESERVE a child but think about the SHIT that kid will go through when he has to tell his friends, this is my dad, and this is my other dad, or this is my mom, and this is my other mom.

Also think about the fact that, if two lesbians adopted a son, how would he actually have a father figure to look up to? how would he be able to ask anyone the questions a son would only ask a father or vice versa?

Now seriously, think about something before you ask a question that stupid.

 

By adding the supplemental clause, "or don't want to become them" you have invalidated your statement. Your first claim "if you don't like a person, you act negatively toward them." However you then try to equate that to "if you don't like gay people, or don't want to become them, you will act negatively toward them." I hop you see the error in your logic.

Here is more valid statement.

One can dislike someone and act negatively towards them without the fear of becoming them. For example, I dislike elitists, not because I fear that I will become one, but rather because I dislike their self-righteous, pompous, self-loving attitude. The same applies to gay people, I dislike homosexuals, not because I fear that I will become one, but rather because I don't understand how one can be interested in sexual parts they already possess. Furthermore, homosexuals cannot reproduce, are prone to contract more diseases (in comparison to a heterosexual), and most importantly, homosexuals are unnatural beings. The vagina was made for copulation with the penis. If nature promoted a homosexual lifestyle, homosexuals would have the ability to reproduce. Because they do not, they would die out.

-- Side Note

The theory that one is "born gay" makes absolutely no sense to me. Why? Because of the above reasons. Homosexuals CANNOT reproduce. If there was a predestined genetic code for homosexuality, it would have died out already. Being gay is a choice, and I personally do not understand why anyone would make that choice.

You don't necessarily have to "fear" them, most of the time people just act like they do to cover up their bi-curious thoughts.

When people are in denial they tend to act against that which they are denying, its the same thing with "homophobic" people. They act against homosexuals because they are in denial.

 

Yeah it is natural but don't stay ignorant that's where hate seeds from. It's "disgusting" now but when you actually take the time to educate yourself you'll think differently.

I think people become homophobes to disassociate themselves from gays. In our society it's pretty much wrong to be gay so why would anyone want to take part in that? I'm not saying it's wrong just putting that out there.
